A medina (from Arabic: مدينة, romanised: madīnah, lit. 'city') is a historical district in a number of North African cities, often corresponding to an old walled city. The term comes from the Arabic word simply meaning "city" or "town".
A little treat, with the taste of Morocco.

Medina Moroccan Cooking Classes
I grew up in a culture where food is a passion and lots of flavour is guaranteed with each meal.
With my mom being the best cook I have ever met, she has the skill of making a gourmet meals using the most basic ingredients; with traditional recipes passed down from generation to generation. I have been fortunate enough to not only enjoy my mothers cooking but also inherit the recipes, skills and techniques required to continue on my families tradition.
In Morocco, traditionally sharing food is one of the main highlights of any gathering.
I’ve been away from home for a while now, yet I have managed to keep and share that tradition with my Kiwi friends.
In the past year I started giving cooking classes at a cooking school and really enjoyed interacting with the people, sharing stories while having the meals, people’s feedback was always positive and that’s what encouraged me to think about giving more lessons but in a different set up.
Medina Cooking classes offers remote classes, which means, I will bring all the ingredients the Tagines and my knowledge and we will cook in your kitchen. So if you’re craving an authentic Moroccan meal, this will be an opportunity not only to have one, but to also learn how to make it.
Using fresh locally sourced ingredients, good quality meat and my mother’s treasured cooking secrets, together we will recreate some of the most famous traditional Moroccan dishes.
I will teach you how to make a Tagine from scratch, how to prepare mouth watering side dishes using very few and basic ingredients in a very short time.
While the food is cooking, I will teach you how to make Moroccan bread, tea and preserved lemon.
During approximately two and a half hours, each individual will get to make a main and 2 different side dishes which will be served with Moroccan bread. After eating we will enjoy fresh mint tea and some delicious Moroccan homemade sweets.
Let me share with you stories, spices, flavors, smells and music that will transport your senses to a whole different world, you will find yourself almost feeling as if you’re lost in a busy alleyway in one of Morocco’s vibrant Medinas.
Get in touch today to book a day that suits.
