‼️ Wrapping up Youth Week with a BANG 💥 THE 2024 AOTEAROA YOUTH DECLARATION IS OUT NOW 🪶🦅 170 rangatahi from across Aotearoa joined us in Tāmaki Makaurau in April to complete this declaration with their vision for the future of our country. Our Regional Engagement programme collected an additional 265 voices from rangatahi across the motu. Minister of Youth, Hon Matt Doocey, and Auckland Central MP, Chlöe Swarbrick, received a provisional copy at the end of the 4-day conference. This declaration, now in its final form, will circulate to the New Zealand government, leaders, and the general public. "The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow." Mā te huruhuru ka rere te manu—adorn the bird with feathers so it may soar. Aotearoa Youth Declaration, UN Youth NZ's first national flagship conference, aims to provide rangatahi with both the opportunity to be heard and the tools to make change in their community. 🦜 The bird that inspired this year's theme is the pīpīwharauroa. According to urban legends, the distinctive whistling call of the pīpīwharauroa, although quiet, holds utmost importance to farmers in Aotearoa. When the call of the shining cuckoo was heard, farmers knew it was time to plant their seeds… Similarly, we hope that rangatahi have sowed their seeds of change at Aotearoa Youth Declaration 2024, which will now start to sprout and bloom in their communities. 🌱 🔗 The 2024 Aotearoa Youth Declaration and the Summary Document can be found here: https://www.unyouth.org.nz/post/aotearoa-youth-declaration-2024 🔗 Conference photos can be found here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1LqfKWgYfluqhNSx4kS6od2QitMjpSOe_?usp=drive_link P.S.
