Staff parties don't always go as expected when you have an adventure minded crew! Last year's Slack Friday set the expectations high with beautifully balmy weather cycling and camping in the Wairarapa. This year however… what a contrast! The heavens opened - induced by an icy southerly front with scattered hail no less. With a green light from our hosts at Patuna Farm, we embarked upon a wet but beautiful trek down Waiarapa’s best kept secret - a limestone chasm. From there - wet, cold, and desperate to warm up, we hopped on our bikes just as the sun broke out and rode 45km to Gladstone Inn for refreshments. Dan warned us that we would be getting wet more than once this trip, “pack three pairs of clothes,” he briefed - with little to no details beyond that. So, parking up next to a Ruamahanga river made us suspicious. With our bellies full, four strangers roared up with V8 powered Jet Boats from the local club. These were our ferries to our final destination – camping by Morison Bush! Meri Kirihimete ❤️
