In 2010 Menzies College set up a Soccer Academy to help students learn about the game of soccer.
The idea behind this was to increase participation, teach players new skills. The page is to keep our players, supporters, and sponsors update of what is happening at Menzies College with soccer. it also lets are supportive parents keep track of the progress of their favourite team. Menzies College Soccer was started to give students andour local community the opportunity to experience the sport a
nd have opportunities to advance in the sport if the wish. To date we have had 8 students represent Southland at various age groups over the year including 5 this year (2015). We have now two girls teams competing in the Girls College Football league and Boys team competing in the boys league as well. We have set up our own Football Academy to help players learn the skills and how to play the game. We have developed our own skills programmes and offer NCEA level one credits for the players to achieve through the sport. We regularly attend tournaments and hold our very own Girls tournament which grows each year. Our Girls 1st XI attend National Tournament each year and we run in the summer our own brand of Summer Socca for adults and children in our local community which has grown to 18 teams last year (2014). We have had success with our Girls 1st XI winning the Southland Premier Title twice in 2018 and 2019 and also been Runners-up in 2016, 2017 and 2021. They also have won Southland Division Two title three times in 2012, 2014 (with an unbeaten season) and 2020, 2022.
