Celebrating 25 Years of God's Goodness: The 1st Koki Company
As we approach the 22nd of August, the 1st Koki Company of the Girls' Brigade is gearing up to celebrate a remarkable milestone—25 years of empowering young women in Port Moresby. This silver jubilee is not only a testament to the organization's resilience and dedication but also a tribute to the visionary leadership of the late Mrs. Powe Barziring, whose pioneering efforts established the company in 1999.
The 1st Koki Company began its journey on August 22, 1999, with a mission to nurture and develop the potential of young girls in Port Moresby. Over the past 25 years, the company has grown from a small group of enthusiastic girls to a thriving community that has positively impacted countless lives. The Girls' Brigade has provided a platform for members to build confidence, leadership skills, and a sense of community.
At the heart of this success story is the late Mrs. Powe Barziring, a name synonymous with dedication and vision. Powe's commitment to the Girls' Brigade was unparalleled. Her dream was to create a space where young girls could find their voice, learn valuable life skills, and grow into empowered women who would contribute to society. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the strong foundation she laid for the 1st Koki Company.
As the 1st Koki Company prepares to celebrate its silver jubilee, plans are underway to honor both the organization's history and its bright future. The celebrations will include a series of events that reflect the spirit of the Girls' Brigade—community, service, and faith. There will be performances, exhibitions, and activities showcasing the talents and achievements of the members.
Looking ahead, the 1st Koki Company is committed to continuing its mission of empowering young women. With a new generation of leaders and members, the company aims to build on the strong foundation laid by Late Mrs. Powe Barziring. The focus will remain on fostering personal growth, community service, and leadership among its members, ensuring that the values and vision of the Girls' Brigade are carried forward into the future.
Happy Silver Jubilee, Girls' Brigade 1st Koki Company! Here's to many more years of making a difference.

Her commitment to the organization and its values has propelled her to the esteemed position of National Vice Commissioner, where she continues to influence and mentor young girls across the nation.
Dange's story begins with her joining the Girls' Brigade at just six years old. From her first days as a young brigader, she exhibited a natural enthusiasm and dedication that set her apart. The values instilled in her by the Girls' Brigade—leadership, community service, and faith—became the cornerstone of her character.
As Dange grew, so did her responsibilities within the organization. She progressed through the ranks, taking on various roles that allowed her to hone her leadership skills and deepen her understanding of the Brigade's mission. Her journey was marked by numerous achievements, each step preparing her for greater responsibilities.
Today, as the National Vice Commissioner for the Girls' Brigade in Papua New Guinea, Dange is a beacon of inspiration. Dange's lifelong dedication to the Girls' Brigade is a remarkable example of how early involvement in community organizations can shape and define a person's life. Her journey from a six-year-old brigader to the National Vice Commissioner is a story of perseverance, leadership, and unwavering commitment. As she continues to lead and inspire, Dange's legacy will undoubtedly influence generations to come.

Period poverty affects 500 million people globally, including many in the United States. Ensuring access to period-friendly bathrooms helps people with periods menstruate with dignity and safety. 🚻
A nurse at a junior high school in Boise, Idaho spoke of the importance of students having access to period-friendly bathrooms: 🏫
“We have had improved behaviors with the period products being in the bathrooms,” she said. “[S]tudents having access to these period products anytime helps with keeping them in class, being on time, and since I have put them up I have not had anyone bleed through their clothes!” 🌟
