My dearest dad, the Late Sisa Kapa

A man of few words and a big heart. A man who treated everyone equally, levelled with anybody and to his loved ones, he loved unconditionally. Even through the distance, for so many years that we didn't get to be together physically, he always made an effort in his own little ways to make my sister, brother and I feel his fatherly love. It was in 2021 when I last saw his beautiful smile, felt the warmth of his hugs, and shared a meal together. He had flown in to Pom to spend a few months with us. Over breakfast he would make the time to grace me with his words of wisdom and would just talk about life in general. We laughed, we cried, we talked and bonded every single day during his visit... Little did we know that that visit would be the last of everything we did together, as a family.

My dearest papa lived in Buka for the last 8 year's until his untimely demise. His departure from this world was sudden and tragic, and the thought of being in this world without him broke everyone's hearts, more especially my siblings and mine. I was shattered, my heart broken into a million fragments and at that instant all his memories came flooding into my mind. A soul, so gentle and humble, so selfless and caring that left too early. I broke down, holding in my hands the plans I had for us and dreams yet to achieve that would have made him the proudest dad in the world. I know he impacted lives of those around him because I see myself and how far I've come and I know that I owe who I am and will ever be to my late father.

My dearest Papa Sisa, you showed me humility and kindness. You taught me resilience and courage, and all that you were. More importantly, you loved your children from the day you brought us into this world until your last breath. You extended that love to my partner because you had a big heart and I was fortunate enough to witness that. My heart yearned to see you one last time before I let you go but I couldn't. Not seeing you just one more time broke me even more. But God knew that if I had, my heart that was already broken into a million pieces, would have broken into a billion more. And so I find peace in knowing that all that happened was for the best and was all in God's master plan. I'm grateful to God for your life here on earth, for making the 3 of us the luckiest to call you our dad, and for placing us together to share this lifetime as a family. Memories are all I have, treasured and cherished, and the thought of you will be my strength and motivation moving forward from here on. I send my thoughts to heaven every single day, share a tear or two for you, and hope that on that glorious morning I'll run into your arms and find that you're still my dad in the next lifetime.
