Food Photography
Food photography is more than just pressing a button. ๐
It's more of the "press of the button" is easier when you did your homework. :)
Planning and rehearsal is needed to capture the right shot for the requirement. Here are some BTS on how we did the previous ice cream shoot.
We made sure everything was set by using stand ins and playing with props and color schemes before the action. Not to mention that the subject on we're working on changes quickly.
Focus on the details.

The perspective of the flat lay highlighting the crushed oreo bits on top of the matcha ice cream. Yummy picture!

A dark and moody scene makes a classy yet cozy feel to product images. It paints a cinematic presentation in the viewer's mind. In this shoot, we wanted to communicate that this local brand is more than just a handcrafted ice cream but rather an artisanal dessert that is at par with well known brands.

The current situation made a shift in the shopping behaviour of clients amd posed a challenge to traditional businesses.
A lifestyle setup makes a visual presentation on how the products can be used by the client. It aims to paint a picture where they can imagine how something smells, taste, and feels. This is vital especially to products sold within a digital marketplace with a sea of similar offerings.
Check out the two photos below. What did you feel on photo 1 vs on photo 2? Which one can stand out when put in side by side with similar products?

Should you shoot with natural or artificial light?
Dappled sunlight can be simulated in a studio environment with the right gear and techniques. Definitely doable.
We decided to shoot this one outdoors to feel the context first hand. We wanted to experience the sounds of birds amd rustling of the leaves. The combination of hard and soft light produce by the shadows of a tree. By doing this, it gives us insight to better improve our concept making process back in a studio environment and hopefully tell relatable stories through our content.

There has been a disconnect with burger menu photos vs the actual thing on most restos. This chef however made it a point to make it not only taste good but to look good aswell.
We made sure to highlight this on our shoot by using only the actual ingredients used on the final product. We learned the steps on how to build it to better understand its key features. The colors and lighting used were also aimed to create a fun vibe for the millenial audience of the business.
Enjoyed working with and shooting for the Pop up Store.
