Blessed weekend, y’all!!!

Last week, I found a weird powder-like brown dust on the stems of one of my White Christmas Caladium. They are invasive… it almost covered 1/3 of their stems from the bottom. That bothered me. So I consulted Mr. Google… APHIDS! Frustrated, I followed what most plantitas have done, i.e. wipe them out with soapy water using a soft cloth. Did it for days until they’re gone.

This morning, I was surprised to see this bud. I haven’t seen a caladium flower up-close. Will keep you posted 👁

She was one of those I thought died last summer. Not really sure whether I am just hopeful or I somehow forgot about her already…. it started raining, I saw hope.

Lookie! Trailing by the terrace! Could they fill the whole veranda?

Finally got to repot this big baby. She thrives in garden soil+rice hull. But since I ran out of garden soil, I mixed loam with rice hull to fill this much bigger clay pot and placed it in a bright shaded part of the garden, hoping to prevent future burnt leaves. Let’s see how it goes.

Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree

Got her last month as a mother’s day gift from hubby. It has since then gave me 3 new leaves - one has grown into a mature leaf, and the other two just unfurled.

Notice the red spots on those 3 new leaves though? That’s a sign of inconsistent watering schedule.

You see, I placed her by the window just so she can get all the light she needs… yes, indoors. The thing is… I water all my outdoor plants every day (except for the CnS) but the ones that I neglect watering are my indoor babies. Duh… I can’t water them daily… so there were times that I totally forget to water them in a week’s time 🤪 Sorry na…

Solution: a simple automatic irrigation system

Alocasia Amazonica

She died last summer so I had to cut her down to the bottom… But I have this habit of just leaving the pot right where I left it, water as I usually do, hoping for some good news along the way.

Last month, a new leaf started to unfurl… and just a couple of days ago, here’s another one.

Variegated Oregano

The tender and delicate leaves of variegated oregano make it useful for salads and vegetable dishes or salsas. Although it has a milder flavour than other varieties, it is still a very welcome and flavoursome kitchen herb.

Like most oregano varieties, its leaves may be chopped fresh and place in ice blocks or butter for later use. Eat them fresh or store for later use, it’s perfect either way you prefer!
