𝐘𝐒𝐋𝐄𝐏 𝐓𝐄𝐀𝐌 𝐁𝐔𝐈𝐋𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒: 𝙰 𝙳𝚊𝚢 𝚘𝚏 𝙲𝚊𝚖𝚊𝚛𝚊𝚍𝚎𝚛𝚒𝚎, 𝙶𝚛𝚘𝚠𝚝𝚑, 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝙸𝚗𝚜𝚙𝚒𝚛𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗.

The YSLEP Bacolod family gathered at the serene Almonti Resort yesterday, August 18, 2024, for a day dedicated to fostering camaraderie, building solidarity, and unlocking leadership potential for their first-ever team building acitivity.Participated by YSLEP scholars from 1st year, 3rd and 4th year batch, and staffs of Caritas Bacolod Social Action Foundation. The event, a testament to the program' s commitment to holistic development, brought together YSLEP Scholars and staff for a day of shared experiences, insightful discussions, and team-building activities.

The day began with a blessed mass led by Rev. Fr. Julius I. Espinosa, Caritas Bacolod Social Action Director. His words resonate with the scholars, reminding them of the importance of faith, community, and service.Following the mass, preceded by a talk which was set for inspiration and growth.

"Leadership is the wholeness of you"
A powerful message from our guest speaker Jerald Perete, who is also a former scholar and YSLEP coordinator who shared that leadership isn't just about holding a position of authority. It's about embracing all aspects of who you are – your strengths, weaknesses, values, and experiences – and using them to inspire and guide others. Sir Jerald, now a successful professional teacher, shared as well his personal journey, insights on leadership, perseverance, offering invaluable guidance and motivation.

The afternoon was dedicated to team-building activities designed to encourage collaboration, communication, and problem-solving. Scholars worked together in groups, engaging in fun and challenging exercises that fostered a sense of unity and mutual support. The laughter that filled the air was evidence of strong bonds formed as one family.

On August 12, 2024, the New Government Center SP Session Hall in Bacolod City was filled with energy as various youth sectors convened to celebrate International Youth Day during the inaugural Bacolod Youth Congress 2024.

The congress primarily aimed to develop the Bacolod Youth Code, a pivotal policy document intended to create a robust framework for youth-oriented projects, activities, and programs. This initiative seeks to empower the youth of Bacolod City by ensuring they have access to vital resources and support systems, enabling them to realize their full potential and contribute positively to society.

A wide array of young participants attended the event, including student leaders, members of the Local Youth Development Council (LYDC), SK federations, young farmers, fisherfolks, artists, and representatives from various specialized organizations. Notably, Clarence Aguilar and Jhon Dave Larra, representatives of the Youth Servant Leaders of Bacolod, were also present.

The congress commenced with the presentation of the Bacolod Youth Agenda, highlighting key aspects of the proposed code. Participants engaged in small group discussions to identify and address issues pertinent to their respective sectors.

Ultimately, the Bacolod Youth Code aspires to provide a meaningful platform for the youth, fostering an environment where they can thrive and actively participate in their communities.

July 20, 2024 – The Caritas Bacolod, Social Action Foundation Inc., welcomed 𝟐𝟓 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐬 to its Youth Servant Leadership and Education Program (YSLEP) for the academic year 2024-2025.

The event commenced with a Mass held at San Sebastian Cathedral, attended by the newly selected scholars along with their parents and the existing 3rd-year and 4th-year YSLEP scholars. Following the Mass, an orientation and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony was conducted by Mrs. Marilou Samson, the Visayas YSLEP Coordinator.

The afternoon session delved deeper into the program's core values and practical applications. A discussion on Basic Social Action Work equipped the scholars with foundational knowledge about community engagement and service. This was followed by an orientation for the Alay Kapwa Expanded Scholarship Program.

The YSLEP program, a nationwide initiative of Caritas Manila, aims to empower underprivileged youth by providing them with access to quality education. The addition of these 25 new scholars signifies the continued commitment of Caritas Bacolod to invest in the future of the community. The organization remains dedicated to providing opportunities for deserving young individuals to pursue their education and contribute meaningfully to society.

Kaangay na lamang sang pagsustento sang ila nga pagkaon, pagpa-eskwela, paghatag sang ila mga kinahanglanon sa panimalay man ukon sa eskwelahan, pagsuportar sa kun anu ang luyag sang ila mga kabataan pinaagi sa mga abilidad kag talento nga may ara sila. Apang sa pihak nga bahin, maka-hambal kita nga ang isa ka ginikanan irresponsable kun wala sini ginatuman ang iya mga obligasyon sa iya mga kabataan. Ang amaynon kag iloynon nga pagtatapap isa ka dako nga responsibilidad nga gintugyan sang Ginoo sa tagsa naton ka mga ginikanan. ANO ANG IMO DEPENISYON SANG ISA KA MAAYO NGA GINIKANAN?

"Being a parent requires a lot of things. It is not a mere obligation to raise a child in the sense of just to raise a child. It is a gift from God and an opportunity to create a love that we can give to no one.

There is no predetermined manual on how to become a parent. In fact, all parents are first-timers. They do not know anything - raising a kid, preparing a comfortable home, being a wife or a husband. Nothing.

Yet, how do we really distinguish what a good parent is? The answer will always be indefinite. The love from a parent shows on how the child loves the people around him or her. It is shown on how he or she approaches the struggles in life. It's how the child creates a world where love and gentleness will foster, not just for him or her, but to everyone in their lives.

It's not mainly on the money and the support the parent gives to their child although it can be a good factor. Being a good parent is extremely hard but being a good child of God helps. A follower of Jesus Christ will never find it taskful to be a good parent because the foundation of it is love. A home that loves God above all caters a love that spreads especially through the children."

Ang maayo nga ginikanan nagahatag sang maayo nga halimbawa sa ila kabataan. Paagi sa ila paggawi kag mga desisyon, ang mga ginikanan nagapakita sang mga prinsipyo kag mga nga kinahanglanon sa pagkabuhi. Sa kabilugan, ang malain nga ginikanan nagahatag sang negatibo nga epekto sa ila kabataan. Ang pagpabaya, pag-abuso, kag pagkawalay disiplina amo ang mga halimbawa sang malain nga pagginikanan. Sa masami, ini nga mga kabataan nagakabudlay sa pag-angkon sang indi husto nga pamatasan.
Sa katapusan, ang papel sang ginikanan sa paghubog sang ila kabataan daw pareho sa paghimo sang semento sa pagpatindog sang isa ka balay. ANO ANG IMO DEPENISYON SANG ISA KA MAAYO NGA GINIKANAN?

"For me, the parents who are good is the one's who tried to do their best just to make their children comfortable and have the life that they wanted. A parent's who are able to give what the basic needs of their child. A parent's who sacrifices a lot just to send their child to school, to provide and to take good care of them. Lastly, a good parents is the one's who teaches their child to be humble, patient, respectful and a person who always choose good deeds. While being a bad parents is spoiling their child of whatever that is not necessary, a bad parent's is always busy and have no time for comporting and asking their child of what's going on in their lives. Lastly, a bad parents are the once who cannot send their children into school even if they have the ability or have enough money to send their children into school.

I, myself so grateful to my mother, she tried her best being a single mother just to send me in a private school even if the exchange is her tiredness and lack of sleep everyday. I am super aware of my moms sacrifices to us, she do everything for us just to make us experience all the things that have all the young people today. She makes us happy and lucky enough for the things that she earned hard for us to experience a good life. My mom, to me, is a hero, yes sometimes she makes mistakes but then, she is so capable of everything just to make us comfortable and to feel like, we are not behind at all things. My mom is the best mom, whatever happens i will still choose her to be my mom for the rest of my life."

"Para sa akon, ang isa ka maayo nga ginikanan, naga pakita sing maayo nga bulohaton pamaagi sa pagpakita sa mga bata sing maayo nga pamatasan kag kung paano mag respeto ilabi nagid sa sulod sang panimalay. Bangud diri naga halin ang pamatasan sang mga kabataan nga gina dala nila sa kung diin man sila mag kadto.

Kag kung istoryahan naman ang isa ka malain nga ginikanan, sila ini ang mga ginikanan nga naga kumbinsi sa mga kabataan mag himo sing mga kabalastugan nga mga gawi, kag ini sila ang mga naga pabaya kag naga tudlo sang mga sala kag indi ini manami sa mata sang aton Diyos."

"Kada isa sa aton may ara isa ka ginikanan nga gaatipaan kag gatipig sa aton. Kag kada ginikanan may ara sang kinalain sa isa kag isa. May ara sing maayo kag may ara sing malain. Pero ano gid bala para sa akon ang isa ka maayo nga ginikanan?

Ang akon depinisyon sang maayo nga ginikanan, indi perpekto apang ginahimo nya ay iya ikasarang sa pagpakamaayo sang iya
kabataan. Nagahatag sya sang insakto nga disiplina para matadlong ang ila mga pang-ginawi.
Ang isa ka maayo nga ginikanan ginapakilala sa iya mga kabataan ang aton Dios, ang iya mga sugo, kag iya mga hinimuan. Ang isa ka maayo nga ginikanan may pag-ulikid sa bwas damlag sang ila mga kabataan. Ang isa ka maayo nga ginikanan may pagpalangga nga nagakaangay lamang sa ila mga kabataan.

Gani nagapasalamat ako sa Ginoo, nga ginhatag ya sa akon ang duwa ka ginikanan nga may pag-ulikid sa akon bwas, may kaahadlok sa Dios, nagahatag sang disiplina, kag may
pagpalangga nga wala ga ekspektar sing balos. Mga ginikanan nga nagapangabudlay sa pangadlaw-adlaw para lang mahatag ang amon mga kinahanglan duwa sang akon utod. Sa pag-painit ni papa bilang isa ka delivery rider kag pagkabusy ni mama sa iya ubra bilang isa ka sekretarya nagapasalamat kag madako gid ang kautangan ko sa ila. Labaw pa sa tanan, may malaba nga pasensya kag gahatag suporta sa pag eskwela kag ano pa ang kinahanglan sang ila kabataan. Sila ang ga guide sa ila mga kabataan bilang maging responsable kag may maayo nga pamatasan.

Kag para sa akon isa ka maayo nga ehemplo sang maayo nga ginikanan ang akon mga kaugalingon nga parents gani Ma, Pa THANK YOU FOR NOURISHING MY SOUL WITH YOUR WORDS. FOR NEVER GIVING UP ON ME EVEN WHEN IT SEEMED THAT THE REST OF THE WORLD DID. FOR TELLING ME I AM BEAUTIFUL, ALL THE TIMES I BELIEVED I WAS NOT. FOR ALL THE WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT, FOR YOUR SACRIFICES FOR US. FOR BEING THE ABSOLUTE ROCK YOU ARE. ONLY GOD CAN UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH I CHERISH AND LOVE YOU FOR ALL THE THINGS YOU HAVE DONE. A good parent is the one who cares about their children's needs, is open to their children, and always teaches them values that they can live with. A good parent sacrifices his or her life for the sake of their children. Good parents also set boundaries but teach their children about their responsibilities in life. Good parenting is giving equal love, support, and guidance to become a better person or a better child. Good parenting teaches you good things and dares you to thrive in any kind of situation you face. Love, guidance, care, support, and generous love for their children are the characteristics of good parenting for me.
In this part, I would like to give my parents a message for being a great example of a good parent.
To Mama and Papa, I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for everything you do for me and for always being there for me. Your love, support, and guidance mean the world to me, and I am truly blessed to have you in my life.
