For what reason did I become a seafarer?

After senior high I had a dream to become a pilot. My mother told me to choose whatever course I like but the deal was to finish on time, not jumping from one course to another. I thought about it deeply and weigh our resources as well. I know my mom can afford to send me to an aeronautic school and I know she has been working hard just for us to be in a good school.

I am her eldest and I don't want to be selfish with my siblings, that is why I chose a course that will not burden her too much, paving the way also for my siblings so that they can choose whatever course they like.

I also see my mom sailing for about 18 years now and it inspired me to becoming a seafarer. If my mom can do it why can't I? That is the simple answer to the question.

Mom thank you for the love, strength, knowledge, and wisdom that you have instilled in us. I am forever in debt for all the sacrifices that you made just for our comfort and stability. I love you always, safe sailing and God bless you Mom. 😘

Exactly a year ago I was a young man who knew nothing about life at sea. Went to Manila with no assurance if I can make it onboard. Leaving my home for the first time alone and I didn't know how to manage myself well that time. I applied from different companies, walked in the streets of Kalaw, failed from exams, and trying again and again just to have a grasp of hope in starting my career. I remember one of my Trainer said while I was taking up my engine watch keeping training (I forgot his name) "do whatever it takes no matter what position they will give the most important thing in this career is to have a starting point and everything will fall into place even if it's not the one you wanted".
So my goal was set and that is to be onboard no matter what it takes and whatever position I have to be. That's why I started as a Messman, this may not be my option but atleast I'm here now onboard, I'm learning by going in the engine room on my free time and hopeful to become a part of the engine team someday.
Buddy don't lose hope at all cost take every chance that the world will offer, it maybe the reason of why you're going to be successful in the future. We should also not forget those who helped us especially our family, loved ones, and God above all.

Being at the lowest will humble you down once you've attained the highest position because you have learned to understand how hard it is being at the bottom.

Umabot ako sa punto na gusto ko ng sumuko.
Na pagod na sa hamon na binigay sa akin. Halos araw-araw uwi lang ang nasa isip ko. Ni hindi ko na nga na alaga-an yung sarili ko ng ma-ayos. Napa-isip rin ako kung ito ba talaga ang gusto ko sa buhay dahil parang nahihirapan ako. Na-ingit din ako sa mga kaibigan at pamilya ko dahil napakasaya nila kasi mag kasama sila palagi. Ang lungkot ng buhay ko dito at parang ang baba ng tingin ko sa sarili ko.
Pero mayroon palang aral na dala ang Diyos sa lahat na nararanasan ko dito.
The Lord wants to strengthen me in whatever challenges that I will face because He knows that I am weak that is why He blessed me with this job in order for me to learn how to strive hard and be strong at all times. He wants to humble me down because He knows that I was too confident back at home where my comfort zone belongs. And He knows that I was too dependent with the people that I know and love, that is why He wanted to test my patience from those that I am not fond to be with so that I can adjust my ways accordingly.
I know these experiences surely will have Glory in the end. So buddy dapat din pala maging Grateful tayo kahit nahihirapan, nasasaktan, naiinis, naguguluhan, at nalulungkot tayo, dahil sa bandang huli may blessings parin ang lahat ng hakbang na dinaanan natin kasi mas nakikila pa natin yung sarili natin at kung ano pa ang makaya natin. Tandaan lang natin na walang makakahigit pa sa Diyos because He is The way, The truth, and The Life.
I am still a process that is unfinished but I will continue to elevate step by step, and one at a time.

After 1 week nakapag post na ulit. Sobrang pagod ang pag prepare namin para sa Australia daming linisan ang nangyari. 😅 Pero sa awa ng Diyos na lagpasan din namin lahat. Buddy konting tiis pa makakauwi kana rin. 🙏

Padayon sa hiligaynon, patuloy sa Tagalog, continue sa English. This is just a simple saying but it gives a lot of meaning in life. So if you feel down padayon lang kasi sa buhay wala kang makakamit kung hindi mo tutulongan yung sarili mong umangat. Alam ko mahirap bumangon araw-araw sa trabaho na parang auto pilot na yung sarili mo sa gawain. Ngunit ito ay palatan-daan na sa balang araw ay babangon ka kasama na yung mga minamahal mo sa buhay. Kaya buddy patuloy lang natin ang laban kasi malapit kana sa finish line! 🙏

AUGUST is waving! Another month to strive harder! 80% na tayo malapit nalang! 🙌

A good reminder!!!

May mga panahon na konti lng ang pera ko o minsan wala talaga pero may mga panahon rin na marami akong pera.

May panahong ang daming pagkain, may panahon din na wala talaga. May panahong nakakain ko ang gusto ko, may panahon din na hindi.

May panahong nakakabayad ako ng bills na hindi namomroblema, may panahon din na hindi ako nakakabayad. May panahong namimigay ako ng pera sa mga mahal ko sa buhay may panahon ding ako naman ang nangungutang.

Tayong lahat ay may ups and downs sa buhay. At lahat tayo lumalaban sa hamon ng buhay para makasurvive..

NO one is BETTER than anyone else, and my heart is sad for THOSE who think that they are. 😢💔

No matter how big your house is, how new your car is, or HOW MUCH MONEY sits in your bank account - we ALL bleed red and will eventually fade from this earth.

Death has no discrimination neither should your actions in life.

BE KIND TO OTHERS even if others are not kind. Everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about.

Inspire and motivate instead of pulling them down. Extend a helping hand when somebody need yours! Above all, if you can't love, just please don't hurt them!

It does not mean if you're slow you will never learn. Learning is a time phrase and each one of us have their own time to learn, whether your fast or a slow learner that is not important. What is important is that you are trying to learn. I know we cannot stop toxic traits onboard because everyone of us have differences in characteristics, opinions and views. Charge to experience that once you make 10 good deeds or even more, if you commit 1 mistake all those good deeds aren't recognizable and your mistake will be remembered until you disembark. But I will never be sorry for my mistakes because
I am new to this world, I am new to this job, I am new to this experiences, and I am a trainee in this ship. So no matter what they say I will accept and do my job accordingly. As long as I am not putting my crewmates in danger I WILL NEVER BE SORRY FOR MY MISTAKES.
So I keep calm and grow my mistakes into to success.

I've been a good crew, a bad crew, a lazy crew, and a stubborn crew. Although I've committed a lot of mistakes onboard I still try to pull my self up and get back to work. Mistakes allow you to learn how to master your job. It might take you once, twice, or a lot of times, you should always remember that nobody is an expert in his or her own job without them failing at first, or even the possibility of failing again after years of mastering their craft.

"Better days ahead."

If you cannot control the situation do not fear because that is normal. Normal lang kung hindi mo kontrolado ang mga bagay bagay, normal lang na hindi mo pa nakukuha yung gusto mo, normal lang na nahihirapan ka na sa buhay, at normal lang na ma pagod kana sa buhay. Eto yung buhay eh, wala namang tao na hawak niya yung kapalaran niya.

Kaya buddy wag kang susuko ha. Panalangin mo sa Diyos kasi alam niya yung dinadaanan mo kaya eh surrender mo lahat sa Kanya kasi lahat na ito ay may rason at eh bibigay sayo ng Diyos yung gusto mo sa tamang oras. Kaya kumalma lang kasi "Better Days Ahead". God bless you buddy! 🙏

"Kapit lang" is a tagalog phrase that means to hold on. There are times that you will be tested onboard by different personalities of your crewmates which you will have a hard time to adjust, long hours of work loads that your body demands rest, and mind battles where you wanted to go home because you feel you're not fit in this job. These are just some of the struggles that we seafarers are facing onboard.

But once you look back you already have surpassed a lot of things around you because in this job the only key to success is to survive. Looking ahead you already have become the person that you wouldn't imagine. Remember you are here for your dreams to make a better future for yourself.

So no matter what keep on holding on trust yourself and the Lord that you can do it and you will survive. "Breathe" it's just a bad day not a bad life.

Kudos to my crewmates in the deck department for working aloft to lubricate the cables of cranes! 🙏
