𝙈𝘼𝘽𝙐𝙃𝘼𝙔 𝘼𝙉𝙂 𝙈𝘼𝙇𝘼𝙔𝘼𝙉𝙂 𝙋𝘼𝙈𝘼𝙈𝘼𝙃𝘼𝙔𝘼𝙂! ✊🏼

The Mediatrix Society attended the MEDIA CITIZEN COUNCIL: FRONT & CENTER, entitled “𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹𝘀: 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗻𝘀, 𝗕𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗻𝘀,” hosted by the Kordilyera Media-Citizen Council (KMCC) on July 13, 2024, at the University of the Philippines Baguio’s Teatro Amianan.

The conference addressed the critical concerns of this generation, particularly the challenges posed by misinformation and disinformation, which have a considerable impact on public discourse. In addition to these important topics, participants engaged in in-depth conversations about media self-regulation, societal issues, the significance of media accountability and safety, the necessity for ethical and responsible journalism, and the importance of collaboration between the media and citizens. They also looked at the idea of good journalism as a public good and the strategic engagement required with various segments of the community to generate positive change.

This summit served as a vital gathering for a diverse group of partners, including media professionals, civil society organizations, faculty members, and communication students from different schools. 𝗕𝘆 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹𝘀, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻/𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗰𝗼-𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀. Further, participants shared insights, strategies, and best practices while participating in activities to strengthen the role of journalism and media in society, promoting a ‘𝙢𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙥𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙝𝙖𝙮𝙖𝙜’ for future initiatives.

Overall, the officers of The Mediatrix Society thoroughly enjoyed every piece of information presented and gained valuable knowledge from the experience. As future media practitioners, they found the discussions engaging and enriching, which not only broadened their understanding but also encouraged them to apply what they learned in the future.

The 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵, 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 (𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗖𝗢) 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲, in collaboration with the 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗳𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿𝘀 (𝗢𝗦𝗔), is spearheading a 𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 to extend help and assist our fellow UBians affected by the unfortunate fire incident that occurred at Barangay Queen of Peace, Baguio City on Saturday morning (April 13, 2024).

To facilitate the donation process, you may drop off your donations at the UB RIECO Office from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, not later than April 18, 2024.

Always spread love and kindness as we bring hope and relief to those in need. Let us make a positive impact and help rebuild the community 💖
