The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, or World Drug Day, is marked on 26 June every year to strengthen action and cooperation in achieving a world free of drug abuse. This year’s World Drug Day campaign recognizes that effective drug policies must be rooted in science, research, full respect for human rights, compassion, and a deep understanding of the social, economic, and health implications of drug use.
Together, let us amplify our efforts to combat the global drug problem, guided by the principles of science, compassion, and solidarity. Through collective action and a commitment to evidence-based solutions, we can create a world where individuals are empowered to lead healthy, fulfilling lives.
Theme: The evidence is clear: invest in prevention
This year’s IDDAIT is a call to:
Raise awareness: Increase understanding of the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of evidence-based prevention strategies, emphasizing their impact on mitigating the harms of drug use.
Advocate for investment: Encourage greater investment in prevention efforts by governments, policymakers, and law enforcement professionals, highlighting the long-term benefits of early intervention and prevention.
Empower communities: Equip communities with the tools and resources to implement evidence-based prevention initiatives, fostering resilience against drug use and promoting community-led solutions.
Facilitate dialogue and collaboration: Promote dialogue and collaboration between stakeholders to enhance evidence-based prevention practices and policies, fostering a supportive environment for knowledge sharing and innovation.
Promote evidence-based policymaking: Advocate for evidence-based policymaking at the national and international levels, ensuring that drug policies are grounded in scientific research and informed by best practices.

COCPO Cops arrest a Malefactor for Direct Assault with Attempted Murder to Persons in Authority
COCPO, Cagayan de Oro City- Police Colonel SALVADOR NOMIO RADAM, City Director of COCPO marks the swift response of Police Station 8 Lumbia upon taking arrests of suspect a certain # # # # # # # # # , 28 years old, single, resident of Upper Palalan, Lumbia, CDOC for Direct Assault with Attempted Murder in Connection with Writ of Demolition in Civil Case No. C18-NOV-117 dated June 4, 2024 at 11:30 AM that transpired at Upper Palalan, Brgy. Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro City.
In a report, PCOL SALVADOR N RADAM, CD, COCPO reported that at about 11:30 am of June 4, 2024 Police Captain REYMAN LA VICTORIA PONTINLLAS, Deputy Station Commander of Police Station 8 Lumbia, and other personnel detailed as area security of demolition site located at Sitio Upper Palalan, Brgy. Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro City brought the living body of # # # # # # # # # # # , 28 years old, single, resident of aforementioned place.
City Director added that upon initial investigation conducted, while the demolition team was on the process to demolish the illegal settlers, the same suspect creating trouble and resisted, thereafter throwing stone to the area security PNP personnel hitting the victim PCPT REYMAN PONTINLLAS in the head causing injury and brought to Lumbia-Hospital for immediate medical attention.
"We could have been achieved a peaceful implementation of Writ of Demolition in Sitio Upper Palalan, this city if only the residents cooperate willingly, but your Higalang Police will always effect arrest to individual/s who will cause harm, inflict injury and commits violations to persons in authority who are in the performance to his duty" added Police Colonel SALVADOR N RADAM, CD, COCPO
The suspect is now currently detained at the custodial facility of this station for case filing.

COCPO, Cagayan de Oro City- Police Colonel SALVADOR NOMIO RADAM, City Director of Cagayan de Oro City Police Office has informed the general public that he has not authorize anybody nor given instruction to any person or group of individual/s to use his name for any transaction or by asking any favors to someone just for personal accommodation and convenience.
This was after a couple of fictitious information that reached to the office of the City Director of COCPO stating there are individuals who are using his name for their personal transactions or asking favor for their personal convenience. The said erroneous information allegedly happened in the Area of Responsibility of Police Station 6 Puerto, Police Station 2 Cogon, and Police Station 7 Bulua in this city involving a delivery sack of rice and cooked foods.
City Director strongly denies said reports and stands firmly that he does not allow nor authorize anyone or group of individuals to use his name to manipulate our fellow Kagay-anons just for their personal desires and interest. "I am against on this type of behavior and this is my stern warning to these people to stop doing on
manipulating our fellow Kagay-nons in expense of my name and any other names in authority, added Police Colonel SALVADOR N RADAM, City Director.
The law knows no one and any violations against any person or against the right of every individual shall be punishable if proven guilty before any court of law. Any suspicious individuals caught in doing such malicious actions using the name/s of anyone in the authority, do not hesitate to report to the nearest police station in your area, or you may call immediately COCPO Hotline number thru 0917 771 3663 for immediate police response.
