The Department of Tourism (DOT) clinched the Training Program of the Year Award at the GovMedia Conference & Awards 2024 for its Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) training program, its game-changing initiative that aims to provide exceptional service to both local and international tourists visiting the Philippines.

The FBSE program emphasizes warm and sincere ways of welcoming tourists, such as the “Mabuhay” and “Salamat” gestures, from their arrival to departure. It promotes the seven values of Filipino hospitality, showcasing the Filipino brand of service excellence at tourist touchpoints.

Since its inception, the FBSE program has made significant strides, conducting 2,997 trainings and empowering a total of 148,710 trained stakeholders in all regions of the Philippines by the end of 2023. This monumental effort is supported by a robust network of trainers through a dedicated train-the-trainer program.

Presently, stakeholders from different sectors of society around the country have recognised the program and requested the DOT to conduct the FBSE to their personnel and staff.

Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco personally received the award last Thursday (June 13) at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre, together with DOT-Office of Industry and Manpower Development (OIMD) Officer-in-Charge Director Arlene Alipio, representing DOT Assistant Secretary Maria Rica C. Bueno.

Various Tourism Stakeholders and personnels of the Local Government Unit of Naawan have completed the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) Training conducted by the Department of Tourism- Region 10 on Thursday, June 13th held at the Function Hall of the New Naawan Town Hall

DOT-accredited trainer/speaker Mr. Paulo Querol facilitated the discussion in the 8-hour training.

The Filipino Brand of Service Excellence Training (FBSE)- one of the flagship programs of the DOT. This training focused on upscaling the guest service skills of the Filipino front liners and introducing the Filipino brand of excellent service and core values— “our brand” and the essence of the “Mabuhay” gesture.

The training ended with an oath-taking to signify the trainees' commitment to upholding service excellence and manifesting a sense of pride in our values and our nation.

The first in Region 10 - in its efforts to professionalize and improve the quality of public service in the barangay, Barangay Carmen in Cagayan de Oro City has rolled out its initiative to have about 250 of its barangay workers directly engaging with clients, trained in the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence.

FBSE Master Trainer Nenette Ignacio-Capaning facilitated two (2) batches of trainees on May 18 and June 8; other batches are scheduled in the next few weeks. The sessions engaged the participants in workshops and exercises that allowed them to reflect on how to extend service to their clients professionally with empathy, efficiency, and dedication.

Punong Barangay Kapitan Kikang Uy Initiated this partnership with the DOT 10 and attended the training on June 8 together with barangay councilors, Lorna Uy, AJ Sabanal, Sunny Cahayag, and Jun Castro. The rest of the councilors will attend future sessions.

With this, DOT 10 is hopeful that other LGUs would follow suit and avail of the FBSE training for their service personnel for the benefit of their clients.

Community-Based Kulinarya Workshop: A Culinary Journey Towards Excellence

On June 6-7, 2024, In Malaybalay City, Bukidnon held the Community-Based Kulinarya Workshop for Tourism Related Establishments and Local Barangays that are in preparation for SUSUDAEN COMPETITION 2024.

This training is initiated by the Department of Tourism Region 10 in collaboration with the Local Government of Malaybalay City. This training is led by Chef Roseller Fiel II, who offered more modern ways of preparing Filipino food.

The participants benefited from the practical cooking activities and discussions that helped to improve their culinary skills and culture.
