CESAFI UPDATE: USC in, USJ-R out in CESAFI College Basketball semis.

With the decision of the commissioner’s office to DISQUALIFY Evan Jose C. Agbong of USJ-R and forfeiting the games it had won when Agbong played, USC barge into the semis.

It can be recalled that USJ-R submitted only the Transcript of Records (TOR) of Agbong from Jose Rizal University during the deadline of submission of credentials for screening on September 8, 2023. However, on October 14, 2023 it was learned by CESAFI that Agbong’s last school attended was Liceo de Cagayan University, thus, CESAFI ask Agbong’s TOR from Liceo.

On October 17, 2023, USJ-R submitted Agbong’s TOR from Liceo, however, the screening committee discovered that the TOR was released as early as July 3, 2023 and wonder why it was not included in the submission of credentials on September 8, 2023.

With the said findings, CESAFI required USJ-R to submit the school-to-school TOR of Agbong. On November 29, 2023, USJ-R submitted the school-to-school TOR of Agbong from Liceo and it was discovered that he did not meet the eligibility requirements, hence, he is DISQUALIFIED.

CESAFI UPDATE: The University of San Jose - Recoletos (USJ-R) Baby Jaguars celebrated a win against the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Baby Dragons at the Cebu Coliseum today, November 14, for the CESAFI Men’s Basketball Tournament High School Division.

Judd Kyle Rueda played a crucial role in Jaguar's win with 23 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist, and 4 steals. The team won with a final score of 64-57.

Among all the athletes who have worked earnestly into becoming one of the greats, there is one notable player that sits atop the League.

We present to you the Season MVP of EVCAA Season 2, from the NwSSU Lions, 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗮!

A leader, and a team player, Hanson has exhibited exemplary skills to showcase that he has deep understanding in both roles. He is an all-around player with high stats and great efficiency, contributing to his team offensively and defensively alike. Having the highest overall individual rating during the eliminations period, he is indeed deserving of the title.

Hanson was awarded with a monetary prize of ₱5,000, Season MVP Trophy, EVCAA Mug and a Sleeveless Hoodie courtesy of 745 Sports Apparel.

This season, the League has seen athletes with great promise, and it is only proper to recognize the most skillful players out of all 11 teams.

We present to you the EVCAA Season 2 Invitational Basketball Tournament's Mythical 5!

From the SSU Deer, the Tolipas brothers, 𝗔𝗝 𝗧𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘀 & 𝗥𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗼 𝗧𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘀 𝗝𝗿.! These SSU brothers serve as the key system for their team's preferred run and gun playstyle. Both players have incredible stamina, agility, and quick reactions, allowing them to score in both fastbreaks and in traffic.

From the SLSU Kingfishers, 𝗠𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗴! Melvin is the team's star performer.With his length, speed and power, he is excellent at driving into the basket. He also has a terrific pulse for three balls making him a great all around player.

From the EVSU Eagles, 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀! He contributes to his squad with his inside shooting and precision layups, averaging 17.5 points per game, making a superb impression in our event. Not to mention his dexterity, which allows him to stay on the court as long as needed.

Lastly, from the NwSSU Lions, the EVCAA Season 2 MVP, 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗮! Hanson proved that his distinct qualities can potentially help him progress even further in his basketball career. Averaging 24 PPG, the most of the season, along with 7 APG, he has shown that he does not only score, but also dish out dimes to his teammates. His performance was indeed a remarkable one.

This set of individuals is regarded as the best in the League this season, and they have each received a monetary prize of ₱2,000, a Medal, an EVCAA Mug and a Mythical 5 Sleeveless Hoodie courtesy of 745 Sports Apparel.

Hanson is the undisputed scoring king this season, averaging 24.0 points per game, and the fourth best player in assist with 7.0 APG. In addition to that, he is also adept at recovering the ball for extra possessions, averaging 4.0 steals and 1.3 blocks in the elimination period. This season, his consistency has been the most valuable asset for his team, making him the core of the NwSSU system.

We hope to see more of his basketball brilliance in the future.
