Hey everyone,

It's that time again: Manilabang season is upon us! As an artist, this isn't just another show – it's a chance to push boundaries, explore new ideas, and, well, maybe even change the world (or at least the digital ownership landscape in the Philippines!).

Remember that crazy stat about Filipinos spending 7 hours a day online? We're a nation practically glued to our screens, and with the rise of web3 technologies like crypto and NFTs, we're at the forefront of something revolutionary: digital ownership.

Imagine a world where you own your data, your art, your digital footprint – not some faceless corporation. Sounds pretty cool, right? That's what we're fighting for with this year's Manilabang exhibit, Enigma Vault.

It's a showcase of diverse artists – from traditional painters to digital illustrators – all exploring the possibilities of this new frontier. We're pushing the boundaries of what art can be, using technology not just as a tool, but as a canvas.

I know it might seem risky, even a little crazy. But hey, that's the Manilabang spirit, isn't it? We're not afraid to experiment, to fail, to be the first ones diving headfirst into the unknown. Because even if this whole web3 thing doesn't pan out, at least we can say we stood for something. We stood for the next generation of Filipinos, for the future of art, for true digital ownership.

A visual exploration of the emotional impact and pressures faced by individuals striving for unattainable standards."

"Marites Paradox"

Marites Paradox portrays the commonly known Filipino term "Marites," referring to a person who gossips about others.

In the artwork, a thought-provoking scenario is depicted where one individual perceives that they are being judged by a Marites.

However, the said Marites also feels the same way towards the individual, creating a mirror-like effect of their judgements towards each other.

The gaze of both individuals conveys this paradoxical situation in a striking visual manner.
