It's all about me and Mathematics.
While cleaning and arranging the old stuff in the house, I smile when I see these old pieces of stuff and reminisce about my life as a Mathematics major student. It's pretty funny that all my notebooks and books were full of stickers of religious images. This was me from elementary until college, and a few years into my early career days, I looked and found stickers and prepared all my school requirements that should have sayings and quotes in every notebook I had before my classes started. Hehe. Now that I am mature enough, with no more stickers and writing sayings on my stuff, I still believe that my faith has been greater than my ability. Everything in our lives is full of reasons and purpose, and it's because of Him.
Do you know that many mathematical concepts are used in gymnastics, and the common ones are angles, decimals, and averages? You can mention more mathematical concepts that you know.
But what's more important here is to put our hands together to clap and celebrate the triumph of our fellow kababayan, Carlos Edriel Yulo, for being the 2024 Champion in the Gymnastics Floor Exercise and Vault categories. Congratulations! Mabuhay ang mga Atleta ng Pilipinas!

When math meets sports.
The video only highlighted some activities where mathematical concepts and sports are incorporated through games and other recreational activities. One of my Math 10 (Mathematics, Culture, and Society) classes proposed the idea, particularly those under the Varsity Athletics Admission System (VAAS) program.
As they bid farewell to their Math 10 course this semester, they, known as the BLOCK VAAS students, made this proposal as their final project that will give life to what they have learned in this course and apply it in a real-life situation. They prepared exciting activities designed to promote the appreciation of mathematics. They titled this activity "MathLympic." It is a type of activity that challenges competitiveness, teamwork, time management, and athletic skills. This activity also fosters interest in mathematics, encouraging student collaboration and celebrating excellence in the field. The participants of this activity come from different program levels, including high school students at the same university.
Hopefully, many can still appreciate and apply mathematics in their fields of interest.

The theme for the 2023 International Day of Mathematics is Mathematics for Everyone
The theme was proposed by Marco Zarco Rotairo of the Trece Martires City National High School at Indang, Cavite, Philippines.
“I believe that Mathematics should be for everyone because all of us have the mathematical ability, but only with varying extent and degree. Also, we must let everyone enjoy the wonders of Mathematics. The notion that Mathematics is only for the gifted and the genius must change.”
International Day of Mathematics A worldwide celebration of Mathematics on March 14 of every year.

Participation in the virtual ICM 2022 is free of charge and open to all, but does require prior registration.
As you will recall, ICM 2022 will take place as a fully virtual congress from 6 to 14 July 2022. The program will essentially run 9:00–18:00 CEST every day. All speakers have been given the option of giving a live or a prerecorded talk. As of now, about 2/3 of the talks will be given live. At the opening day, the plenary talks of the Fields Medalists and the IMU Abacus Medalist will be given in front of a live audience in Helsinki, Finland.
We are under severe time constraints, and the fully functional platform for the virtual ICM 2022 is scheduled to be ready only one week before the opening of the congress. Once you register, you will get a confirmation that you have registered, and the program will soon be available on the platform. In the meantime, you can continue to visit icm2022.org for an overview of the schedule. You can register for the virtual ICM 2022 via this link (https://react.regasus.de/portal/react/profile/start). Both registration and participation are free of charge, but there is a limit on the number of attendees, and hence early registration is recommended.
I would also like to remind you that the IMU Award Ceremony 2022 will take place live in Helsinki on 5 July 2022, and it will be streamed on the IMU website (https://www.mathunion.org/). No registration is needed here.
