At this time of fake news peddling and distortion of the truth, we find it imperative to create, sing, dance, write, and speak truth to power. The event, TUIS, was born with this mindset and the name comes from the Bisaya word for “distort”.

TUIS is a Concert + Art Show that was first initiated last year in time for the 50th commemoration of the declaration of Martial Law by Marcos Sr. It aims to converge the youth, artists, musicians, academics, and local communities into the broader fight against revisionism and truth distortion.

TUIS is back once again this year, now with Counterflow Productions and Square Peg Collective at the helm. It will be headlined by Kubra Commander, THE SPIRALS PH, The Midnight Greetings, Jericho Streegan and Pat The Peg.

It will be held on 14 October 2023, at AHKA Sari-sari Space.

TUIS will start at 3pm with pop-up shops by Square Peg Collective, Bastinuod, Lunchbox, Azalea, Sahn Vicente, Auntie's Cafe, Angelica's Shop, Yuni Okamoto, Pixelnapsu, and Cocochi. A flash tattoo booth will also be available.

While the Pop-up shops are on display, DJ Sets by Maria Spada, Cordapia del Mundo, Sorry Sue, Vulcanizer 2069, Nina Turtle, and Libya Montes.

This event is in partnership with USC Carolinian Political Science Society, USC Supreme Student Council, PAWN, Kabataan Partylist Cebu, and AHKA Sari-sari Space

Proceeds of the event will benefit Human Rights groups in Central Visayas for the legal aid of Political Detainees in the Region.

The specter of tyranny is haunting the Filipino people. Duterte's policies laid the groundwork for Marcos Jr.’s brand of state terrorism and now our democratic and political rights continue to be violated.

Under the current regime, we are seeing continuing persecution of political critics and grassroots organizations aiming for genuine social change.

Today, there are almost 200 political prisoners locked up in Cebu, Bohol, and Negros Island jails with the majority of which following the same pattern of illegal arrests based on trumped-up charges. The arrests of the Mabinay 6 and Himamaylan 3 which included UP Cebu youth leaders Myles Albasin and CJ Matarlo are just a few of these cases. Not to mention the intensified harassment, intimidation, red-tagging, and other forms of human rights violations experienced by vocal critics of the anti-poor and anti-people policies of the government including religious groups, progressive organizations, and defenders of human rights.
