UNITING FOR PROGRESS: MENRE MAGUINDANAO JOINS FORCES ON BARMM CONVERGENCE

SULTAN MASTURA | As component part of the 5th founding anniversary celebration of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE) through its Provincial Environment Natural Resources and Energy Office (PENREO) of Maguindanao collaborated with the Provincial offices of various ministries and agencies in BARMM for an offering assistance corresponding to the mandates of the offices.

The juncture known as “BARMM CONVERGENCE IN MAGUINDANAO; A Journey Towards Mutual Understanding, Peaceful Co-Existence, and a shared in the Bangsamoro,” happened on January 24, 2024 in the Municipal Gymnasium of Sultan Mastura in Maguindanao Del Norte Province.

MENRE Minister Akmad A. Brahim stressed in his speech the power of collective efforts, emphasizing the common goal of prosperity, community relationships, and addressing marginalized concerns. Also, he expressed gratitude to Allah and encouraged everyone by saying, “Reach out to your mayors or companions for assistance in times of need”.

Forester Lauban S. Abdul, the PENRE Officer of Maguindanao, stated, “Along with our minister, we support the celebration of BARMM, with a vision to inspire advancement and unity throughout the BARMM Convergence”.

Mayor Zulficar Ali H. Panda of Sultan Mastura expressed deep gratitude to the BARMM Government, ministries, and the Provincial Government of Maguindanao del Norte for their steadfast commitment in providing assistance to the town of Sultan Mastura. This event was not only marked a significant moment for BARMM but also showed how ministries, agencies and offices efforts positively impact to the community.

Moreover, a total of 1,000 seedlings of Narra, Dao, and Mahogany species were offered to the identified fortunate recipients including 150 fuel coupons for the lucky payong-payong and habal-habal drivers. Flyers were also given to them to strengthen awareness on environmental protection and conservation for the sustainable ecosystem services to the present and future generations of the bangsamoro people.

Throughout the program, notable attendees of key officials represented their ministries, agencies and offices including MENRE Minister Akmad A. Brahim, PENRE Officer of Maguindanao Forester Lauban S. Abdul, MPA, CENRE Officer of 1st District Maguindanao Forester Faisal U. Akmad, MPA, CENRE Officer of 2nd District Maguindanao Forester Datumama K. Makartur, MPA Local Chief Executive of Sultan Kudarat Honorable Mayor Zulficar Ali H. Panda, Vice Mayor Andy Z. MENRE MAGUINDANAO FEMALE EMPLOYEES GADTHER TOGETHER FOR CAPACITY BUILDING

NORTH COTABATO | As part of MENRE-Maguindanao's initiatives to foster Gender and Development (GAD) equality, the female employees through its Maguindanao Provincial ENRE Office (PENREO) embarked on a journey of empowerment with a two-day team building retreat at Blue Palm Mountain Resort in Sitio Abacanhan, Barangay Cabaruyan, Libungan, North Cotabato on December 27-28, 2023.

Under the theme "Capacitating Employees in knowing their Rights through Gender Awareness", the event fostered inclusivity, understanding, and a commitment to building a supportive workplace culture.

MENRE representatives, led by PENREO Maguindanao's GAD Focal Person Administrative Officer III Asma G. Abo, with support from PENRE Officer Lauban S. Abdul and CENRE Officers, took the lead in organizing this initiative.

In addition, two presentations addressing important aspects of gender and development (GAD) were featured at the event. The GAD Focal Person, Asma G. Abo, not only emphasized the significance of GAD in general but also offered helpful advice on how applicable it is to all employees especially to women.

Following this, Engr. Bai Moniera M. Salilama, DMO III, provided a detailed discussion on women's roles in Islam, offering insightful information about their unique contributions and responsibilities within Islamic values. These sessions aimed to enhance participants' knowledge and appreciation of GAD.

The next day brought a lively team-building activity that not only created an enjoyable space for team members to connect individually but also emphasized the fun element of working together towards shared objectives.

Furthermore, the MENRE-Maguindanao ladies extends deepest gratitude to MENRE Minister Akmad A. Brahim, Director General Atty. Badr E. Salendab, Administration, Finance, and Management Services Director Al-Sharif M. Tamburani, PhD, JD, Director Eshan Karl Mabang of the Land Management Services (LMS), Energy Management and Development Services EMDS Director Nasiri B. Abas, Deputy Minister Muslima A. Asmawil, PENREO- Maguindanao Forester Lauban S. Abdul, MPA, CENRE Officer - 1st District Forester Faisal U. Akmad, MPA, CENRE Officer - 2nd District Forester Datumama K. Makartur, MPA. Their leadership on the ground was instrumental in bringing this impactful event to life.

MENRE-MAGUINDANAO'S ORIENTATION ON MAINTENANCE AND PROTECTION FOR FOREST AND PALAW RANGERS

COTABATO CITY- In an effort to enhance the ability of forest and palaw rangers to effectively safeguard the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao's (BARMM) natural resources, the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE) - BARMM, through its Maguindanao Provincial ENRE Office (PENREO), conducted an orientation on November 16, 2023 at Diamond Hall, Em Manor, Cotabato City.

MENRE Minister Akmad A. Brahim expressed his objective during the briefing, saying, “Today, we have the opportunity to engage in a collaborative brainstorming session with representatives from various MENRE services who have gathered to provide valuable insights and expertise.”

During the program, the PENRE Officer of Maguindanao Forester Lauban S. Abdul, delivered the opening remarks and offered valuable fieldwork advice to the participants.

"As protectors of nature, it is important for you to be able to identify changes and potential threats." PENREO Lauban S. Abdul stated.

The orientation also provided topics commencing with an introductory overview, delving into a presentation on the current condition of Maguindanao's forests. Additionally, participants engaged in discussions pertaining to various forestry laws, including PD 705 (Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines), DENR Administrative Order No. 97-32, the Chainsaw Act of 2002, regulations governing the transportation of forest products, and the Wildlife Act.

Furthermore, the orientation shifted to an open forum in the afternoon, focusing on active discussions and enriching participants' understanding.

MENRE-BARMM remains steadfast in its commitment to protect the region's biodiversity by empowering its personnel through enhanced skills and fostering a collaborative environment, thereby, ensuring the sustainable use of its natural resources for the benefit of the Bangsamoro people.

The orientation was graced by the presence of MENRE Minister Akmad A. Brahim, PENREO- Maguindanao Forester Lauban S. Abdul, MPA, CENRE Officer - 1st District Forester Faisal U. Akmad, MPA, CENRE Officer - 2nd District Forester Datumama K. Makartur, MPA, and Division Chief of Policy & Planning Division Forester Jessie C. Ondoy. Representatives from FMS, including Forester Czarina M. Kunso, Forester Datudaud B. Mangalangat, Forester Aladin K. Esmael, and Division Chief of Forest Resources Management Forester Guiamel D. Abdul, were also present. Additionally, BERDS Biologist Lady Ayessa Allon joined the gathering, along with other PENRE personnel, foresters, forest and palaw rangers from both districts.

MENRE-MAGUINDANAO AND COA’S ENTRANCE CONFERENCE FOR CY 2023 ANNUAL AUDIT

COTABATO CITY - The Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE) - BARMM, along with the Provincial ENRE Office in Maguindanao, actively engaged in the Entrance Conference for the 2023 Annual Audit organized by the Commission On Audit (COA) on October 25, 2023 in the Conference Room, MENRE’s New Executive Building, Cotabato City.

The meeting commences with an introduction of the audit team and an assessment of the auditee's state of readiness. Its purpose is to ensure regulatory compliance, enhance operational efficiency, and facilitate a smooth audit process.

"Our objective is to succeed while remaining compliant with the law, especially in the areas of administration and finance. We are dedicated to working diligently to support our programs and projects, particularly on Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim's moral governance initiative" MENRE Minister Akmad A. Brahim stated.

Furthermore, State Auditor I Catalino Y. Gutos JR. and State Auditor III Saripha B. Macabago delivered a presentation regarding COA's responsibilities and the focus areas of their audits. They also highlighted important aspects of the auditing process.

Additionally, Development Management Officer III Engr. Bai Moniera M. Salilama, provided an overview of MENRE Maguindanao's mandates, mission, vision, policies and achievements from the previous year. Moreover, the meeting transitioned into an engaging open forum, promoting active involvement as attendees raised various questions. These dialogues not only addressed participants' inquiries but also enhanced their comprehension of the topic.

“We are committed to follow the rules and regulations set by the COA and the presence of Ma'am Saripa, our mentor, guides us in staying on the right path as we lead the MENRE Maguindanao office. I'm grateful to everyone for their support in this noble endeavour." PENREO Lauban S. Abdul said.

The COA’s Auditing Team was duly represented by State Auditor I Catalino Y. Gutos JR., State Auditor III Saripha B. Macabago, MPA, J.D, State Auditor IV Regional Auditor Assida A. Lao, MPA.

The event was also graced by the presence of MENRE Minister Akmad A. Brahim, Director General Atty. Badr E. Salendab, Administration, Finance, and Management Services Director Al-Sharif M.
