This is learning, and the more we rehearse a skill or piece of information, the quicker we are able to retrieve it and the easier it becomes.

For students of any age, anything that can be done to enhance this process and make memory retrieval easier and more efficient is a valuable tool on the learning journey. Reading aloud has been proven to help us remember more of what we have read, but this can be taken a step further, and students can increase their learning speed and efficiency by recording themselves talking out loud.

Referring to Yourself in Japanese.

There are many ways to say “I” in Japanese. Some of these words are not as common and others are hopelessly outdated. The usages of all the different words for “I” is separated into two categories: gender and politeness. In other words, there are words that are usually used by males and words that are usually only used by females and they all depend on the social context.

In our Basic Japanese Language and Culture Course, we go over some of ways to refer to yourself and others. In this video clip from one of our classes, we will see the importance of using the appropriate pronoun in a very casual situation with the help of a popular Japanese animated movie "Kimi No Nawa".

To learn kana (hiragana and katakana) is to create a foundation for the rest of your Japanese. By learning kana, you will learn the basics of Japanese pronunciation. Many classes and individuals spend months learning kana. This is too long. You should be able to learn everything in a couple days. A week, tops.

Due to kana's relative simplicity (at least compared to kanji), image-based mnemonics are a perfect method for memorization. Each kana character has a memorable illustration that goes along with it. It's amazing what you are able to memorize when using a mnemonic method.

Speaking helps us get comfortable with our target language. We can also use it to learn new words and phrases fast. That's why at Jinchi, we encourage our student to talk to themselves using Japanese Language. We can start by talking about any topic out loud.

Pronunciation can be quite tricky when learning a new language, especially for adults. You’ll have to replicate lots of new strange sounds that are completely unknown to you. The language you are learning may have the same alphabet, but some letters will have an entirely different pronunciation. This can be confusing in the beginning, because it looks like words are not pronounced the way they should.

Why is it important? One of the reasons is that Pronunciation forces you to listen to speakers more carefully, focusing on how they make the right sounds when they speak. By listening to how natural sentences sound, you are more likely to make them yourself. Besides, the more you listen to these sentences, the easier it becomes for you to understand and get used to them.
