(American academy of child and adolescent psychiatry, 2018) While it serves as a useful tool for communication and socializing, it often leads to several issues such as insecurity, social anxiety, and depression. Iligan Youth Social Issues Circle offers seminars and free sources to help solve the issue of the negative effects from Social Media.

UNCERTAINTY
The global COVID-19 pandemic has affected everyone's lives in a variety of ways especially the youth being they have serious concerns about their future. They may want to ask adults for advice on how to present themselves in such unprecedented times, but if all of those adults are on social media, who is to say what real-world assistance they are receiving? And in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are willing and able to work remotely to help parents, careers, guardians, and teachers recognize when the youth may be vulnerable to risk-taking behavior and build confidence in caregivers to help and intervene appropriately.

BODY IMAGE ANXIETIES
Body image anxiety refers to the persistent and intrusive obsession with an imagined or slight defect in one's appearance. Many of youth are affected by body image anxieties during puberty. As social media platforms like Instagram and Snapchat have grown in popularity, photographs of bodies are shared frequently. Some pictures are allegedly used in the hashtag Body Positivity campaign to illustrate the reality of bodies. However, some simply display the edited and filtered representations of bodies that users of social media have come to expect. The youth may receive conflicting messages from this regarding how they should look. According to YMCA research, 52% of young people frequently worry about their appearance. Iligan Youth Social Issues Circle aims to build a community that embraces one another. Through this, they may build more confidence by helping one another. This exchange of support is healthy for the Youth because it radiates positivity and diminishes any negativity.

PEER PRESSURE
Peer pressure refers to the ability of others to affect a person's behavior. Many of the youth believe that if they don't follow the crowd or the loudest voice in that crowd, they are missing out or don't fit in. As a result, this might encourage the youth to engage in risky activities like excessive drinking, drug use, or exposure to gang crime, particularly online via social media. However, there are benefits to peer pressure as well such as someone's peers encouraging them to do something positive or pushing them to grow in a beneficial way like pushing a friend to study harder so they can get better grades or get an after-school job and convincing friends to get a job too. If you are unsure or uncomfortable with the peer pressure you are facing. you are most welcome to participate in our seminars. The seminars provide useful information and advice that will help guide the Youth in addressing peer pressure and other social issues. Free sources will also be provide for those interested in further research.
