NCSC conducts orientation workshop on its proposed gender and development program

The opener of the two-day orientation workshop on the proposed NCSC gender and development (GAD) program rolled off quietly and smoothly here on Friday.

National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) Chairman Franklin Quijano led a complete cast of the commission's leadership and heads of offices.

Chairman Quijano broke the ice with an awe-inspiring message that touched on gender equality not only to women and all sexes but the elderly populace as well.

He also thanked the highly enthusiastic participants for giving time and energy for a very worthy cause but admits that there's a lot more to be done.

Shifting to high gear, Comm. Ida Yap-
Patron, Alternate GFPS Focal Commissioner later shared an overview of the NCSC, GAD and GFPS.

Comm. Ida Patron also made a lengthy and clear presentation of the workshop structure including formulation and integration of the NCSC-GAD program.

Providing valuable support and expertise to the program were Comms. Enriqueta Rodeles, Edwin Espejo, Rainier Cruz and Reymar Mansilungan.

The directives laid down by NCSC GAD chairperson Atty. Franklin Quijano serves as the guiding principle for the formulation of the said program.

They are as follows:

-- Context of whole-of-society
-- Culture of conflict based on a defensive and aggressive cultures
-- Concept of "restoration" over "punishment"
-- Collaboration of the NCSC divisions for an intensified and seamless implementation of GAD programs and activities.

The two-day seminar-
workshop continues on Saturday to discuss more salient points of the program.
