The JIECEP General Assembly of 2024 was a whirlwind of activity, brimming with energy and purpose. From the moment the gavel fell, discussions were lively and productive, covering a wide range of topics.

Some of the discussions are the annual plan and budget—it was scrutinized and approved with meticulous care, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and effectively. Department rules and regulations were discussed, providing a clear framework for operations and accountability.

And just when you thought the excitement couldn't get any higher, the conversation turned to the highly anticipated JIECEP merchandise. The buzz in the room was palpable as the maker of the merch discussed the design ideas and products. It was a testament to the passion and dedication of the JIECEP community.

As the assembly drew to a close, it was clear that the organization is poised for a year of growth, innovation, and success.

𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐁𝐒 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬

The College of Engineering (COE) is currently gathering data on the home origins of its BS engineering students to fulfill reporting requirements for the Philippine Technological Council. This is a crucial step in the college's ongoing efforts to achieve accreditation for the BS engineering programs under the Washington Accord (WA).

Achieving WA accreditation means that graduates will be recognized as equivalent to those from full signatory countries, including Australia, Canada, China, and many others. This will open doors for our graduates to practice engineering in these countries.

All BS engineering students enrolled this semester must complete the survey below:

This survey is mandatory and will be considered a clearance requirement. The College Secretary and the college registrar will oversee the blocking and unblocking of students based on survey completion. Year-level advisers and department chairpersons are responsible for reporting students who have not responded.

Iligan City, Lanao del Norte - Make an impact, develop our talents, and stay ahead of what's possible thus Analog Device Inc. (ADI) resource speaker Engr. Carlos Bating expressed to aspiring engineers during the two-day University Caravan Program at Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) held from August 21-22, 2024.

Analog Devices Inc. (ADI) ignited the minds of aspiring engineers, facilitated workshops, supported student recruitment, and fostered collaboration between academia and industry.

As a leading semiconductor and manufacturing company, Analog Devices Inc. produces integrated circuits (ICs) essential for automotive and non-automotive applications.

With a longstanding partnership with MSU-IIT, ADI is committed to advancing technology and making a positive impact on education and industry.

The University Caravan program included recruitment efforts, technical training, and informative company talks for engineering and engineering technology students.

This initiative bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-world experience, providing students with valuable insights and opportunities.

"This caravan does not only give career opportunities for students but also allows them to be exposed to technology and the industry," said Carlos Miguel Ibonia, a second-year BSECE intern applicant.

According to ADI's specialist, James Vincent Santos, the internship program is a cornerstone of the University Caravan, providing students with the chance to apply their classroom knowledge to real-world projects within the organization.

ADI offers internships in various departments, providing tailored technical training to ensure students are well-prepared for future roles.

The internship experience goes beyond technical skills, aiming to shape students into future employees who embody the company's values and culture.

"As early as internships, we are shaping them to be [future] employees of Analog devices Inc.," James Santos stated during an exclusive interview.

He added that ADI is flexible in adjusting internship schedules to align with students' academic calendars, whether it's a full semester or a summer program.

This approach allows students to gain hands-on experience while contributing to ADI's innovative projects.

BS Electronics Engineering (BSECE) juniors Samantha Jane Amen and John Philip Enecio from Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) have successfully advanced to the finals of the second iteration of Xinyx Design’s UNLOCKED, a prestigious national innovation pitching competition. The duo, mentored by Department of Electronics Engineering (DECE) faculty member and the Thu’um Publication adviser Engr. Kevin Maglinte, is among 13 teams nationwide selected to compete in the final round. Their innovative project, "PowerNap Sage: Advancing Home Energy Management with Intelligent Control and User-Friendly App," impressed the judges and earned them a spot in the national finals.

Xinyx Design’s UNLOCKED competition is a platform designed to foster innovation and creativity among Filipino students. As part of the company's Campus Connect program, UNLOCKED aims to raise awareness about the Philippines' microchip design industry, encourage students to pursue careers in IC design, and cultivate a thriving innovation ecosystem. This year's competition promises to be even more impactful, providing students with the opportunity to transform their ideas into solutions for real-world challenges.

Open to undergraduate students pursuing Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Engineering, UNLOCKED challenges participants to address pressing urban issues. Building on the success of its inaugural event, the competition's second year continues to focus on the theme "From Problems to Possibilities: Building Tomorrow’s Cities Today." The first edition, held in December 2023, drew a diverse pool of engineering talent from all around the country.

To support the finalists in their project development, Xinyx Design is providing each team with a ₱10,000 seed fund. The students are required to use these funds exclusively for project implementation and preparation for the final pitching phase. The top three teams will compete for cash prizes on September 19-20, 2024, with the venue to be announced soon. The event promises to be a showcase of exceptional talent and innovative solutions as the young engineers compete for the attention of investors and industry experts.
