ILOILO CITY'S EBOSS ACHIEVEMENT

I am proud to announce that Iloilo City will receive a Certificate of Commendation for our exceptional implementation of the Electronic Business One-Stop-Shop (eBOSS). This recognition follows the recent onsite inspection on August 5, 2024, conducted under Republic Act No. 11032, which aims to enhance business processes and government service delivery.

The City of Iloilo has successfully automated its business permitting and licensing procedures, boosting efficiency for both new and renewal applications. This award highlights our commitment to making business operations in Iloilo City smoother and more effective.

A fraudulent online loan scam is targeting unsuspecting individuals, requiring them to send a deposit fee before loan disbursement. This is a 𝐒𝐂𝐀𝐌. Victims are lured with promises of easy loans, while scammers use fake permits from the City Government of Iloilo’s Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) to appear legitimate.

𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬:
1. 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐀𝐝𝐬: Fake posts on platforms like 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤, 𝐕𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫, and 𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 promising quick loans with low interest rates.

Iloilo City is about to welcome a significant addition to its commercial landscape as SM City Iloilo gears up for a major expansion. The highlight of this ambitious project is the introduction of the city's very own SMX Convention Center, a first for the area.

Additionally, the expansion will include the opening of a new branch of National University (NU), further enhancing the educational and commercial opportunities in the region.

While specific details about the expansion are still under wraps, the anticipation is building as residents and visitors alike eagerly await what SM City Iloilo has in store. This expansion is expected to further elevate the shopping and event experiences in the region.

In addition to the exciting developments at SM City Iloilo, SM is also planning major redevelopments and expansions at other key locations, including SM Megamall, the SM MOA Sky, SM City Cebu's Northwing, and SM City Bacolod. These projects reflect SM's ongoing commitment to enhancing its properties and providing world-class facilities across the country.

ILOILO CITY IS LUNSOD LUNSAD AWARDEE ANEW, GETS P2-M GRANT

For championing creativity and innovation, Iloilo City is once again chosen as one of the awardees for Lunsod Lunsad Awards of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

The award was received by Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion (LEDIP) head Velma Jane Lao in a ceremony held in Pasay City on Aug. 6.

Being an awardee, Iloilo City gets a P2-million grant and technical support from the DTI to implement its proposed projects that highlight its creative potential.

The city’s proposed project entitled “The Iloilo City Lunsod Lunsad Creative Gastronomy Mapping, Strategy Development and Showcase,” is seen to strengthen Iloilo City as the Creative City of Gastronomy by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Among the initiatives include creating an opportunity, enabling a channel, promoting innovation, and providing a platform for gastronomy stakeholders to upscale, showcase their offerings, and collaborate on sustainable practices.

“We will have a comprehensive mapping of the gastronomic landscape of Iloilo City. We will profile and map out the culinary assets, practices, and heritage,” said Lao.

The project includes the production of Ilonggo Food Crawl Guide, a curated list of recommended dining destinations, culinary experiences, and must-try dishes in Iloilo City.

Also, with the development of Ilonggo Food Circuits, a Familiarization Tour will be organized involving key stakeholders to experience the delectable journey through the rich gastronomy landscape of the metro.

The city will also launch an official digital platform, a website specifically, to showcase its rich culinary heritage and will conduct a “Pagtililipon,” a gathering that highlights and celebrates the culinary experience.

The “Pagtililipon” will have two main events – the presentation of the creative city landscape of Iloilo City and the strategic framework, and Food Show, to engage stakeholders, promote innovation and collaboration and foster sustainable growth within the gastronomy sector.

Aside from Iloilo City, nine more cities from Western Visayas are also awardees.

The 2024 Lunsod Lunsad, anchored on the theme, “A Call for Creative Proposals towards Building Creative Cities,” is focused on supporting and empowering local creative talents, promoting economic sustainability, and developing the cultural and creative landscapes in the country’s cities.

In a news release, the DTI anticipates that the successful implementation of these projects will significantly contribute to the growth of creative industries in Western Visayas and the Philippines as a whole. (Iloilo City PIO)

Resources have been channeled into strategic investments across public elementary and secondary schools and in the two local government-run colleges offering free tuition—the Iloilo City Community College (ICCC) and the Technical Institute of Iloilo City (TIIC)—as well as for the USWAG Scholarship.

“RISE, Iloilo City” is a strategic roadmap embodying the continuation of the implementation and development of projects under the WHEELS (Welfare, Health, Education, Environment, Livelihood and Sustainability) program.

The R (Responsive and Inclusive Human Development) in the roadmap signifies the city’s commitment to creating an environment where everyone has equal opportunities for personal and professional development through various initiatives, programs, and services.
