“I am a Seafarer by profession; working as Senior Stewardess onboard private superyachts. I have been wanting to have my own business but my time at home is very limited. Online business was the key answer and the great opportunity for me to achieve my idea. I started Uribay bags last February 2022 with my cousin-in-law as my business partner. Uribay is a Hiligaynon word (“Ulibay”) with its meaning in English— to carry in a sling over the shoulder, etc. We are overwhelmed of how Ilonggos are supporting our brand. Our main goal is to promote local products and help the community through home industry. “Start small, dream big.” Like every business, it isn’t easy. I need to focus on business growth and see to it that we sell quality bayong bags. I encourage every Filipino to support and patronize local products like ours. Uribay bags are handcrafted in the Philippines by local weavers in their own homes. Therefore, every purchase is providing continuity of livelihood. These bayong bags are made of recycled and renewed plastic straw making them environment-friendly. Trendy, durable, lightweight and waterproof are the attributes that make them unique.
