The image of St. Joseph from our shrine will accompany the images of the Sñr. Sto. Niño de Cebu and Our Lady of Guadalupe de Cebu for the first time in the history of the Fiesta Señor Fluvial Procession come this January 20, 2024.

The picturesque of the coming together of these holy images, now can be aptly addressed as the "SAGRADA FAMILIA DE CEBU" --in this historical move, is a clear testament of the Holy Family's protection to the island of Cebu and the Cebuano's long standing and unwavering Roman Catholic faith that has been planted to our hearts since the time our forefathers have traversed the depths and strong waves of the seas just to reach our shores.

SAINT ANDRE BESSETTE
Religious Brother

He was a Canadian religious brother from the Congregation of the Holy Cross. His real name was Alfred but he changed it after he entered the congregation. He is well-known as a promoter of the devotion to St. Joseph. He used the oils in the lamps that burned in front of the statue of St. Joseph to heal the sick. Many cures were reported through what he was doing. Many loved him but many also thought he was a fraud.

To you, O blessed Joseph, do we come in our tribulation, and having implored the help of your most holy Spouse, we confidently invoke your patronage also.

Through that charity which bound you
to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God
and through the paternal love with which you embraced the Child Jesus, we humbly beg you graciously to regard the inheritance which Jesus Christ has purchased by his Blood, and with your power and strength to aid us in our necessities.

O most watchful guardian of the Holy Family,
defend the chosen children of Jesus Christ;

O most loving father, ward off from us
every contagion of error and corrupting influence;

and from heaven assist us in our struggle

St. Joseph, reigning in Heaven with Jesus and Mary, intercede for the souls in Purgatory. Hear our prayers for family, friends, parishioners and clergy who have served you and lived out their faith in our parish family.

Please turn your gaze to the soul who is most forgotten in purgatory. From the Mist of Mercy let this holy soul journey into Heaven to see the face of God. To be reunited with family and friends and to praise the Holy Trinity in the company of all the Saints. St. Joseph, when it is my time to give my soul to God, I beg for your blessing and pray to you to be prompt in delivering me from purgatory so that I can see you, Jesus and Mary face to face. Amen.

On June 29 the Church celebrates the feast day of Sts. Peter & Paul. As early as the year 258, there is evidence of an already lengthy tradition of celebrating the solemnities of both Saint Peter and Saint Paul on the same day. Together, the two saints are the founders of the See of Rome, through their preaching, ministry and martyrdom there.

In a sermon in the year 395, St. Augustine of Hippo said of Sts. Peter and Paul: “Both apostles share the same feast day, for these two were one; and even though they suffered on different days, they were as one. Peter went first, and Paul followed. And so we celebrate this day made holy for us by the apostles' blood. Let us embrace what they believed, their life, their labors, their sufferings, their preaching, and their confession of faith.”
