[𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞] 𝗨𝗦𝗠 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗜𝗦𝗢 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱

After the whole day surveillance audit on February 23, 2024, the external auditors, headed by Ms. Lynn Gerzon, along with Ms. Jogina Mendiola and Ms. Grace Del Rosario, revealed that the University of Southern Mindanao has only one (1) minor nonconformity in the results hence, USM maintained its International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2015 certification.

Simultaneously, the functions subjected to the audit were Academics, Research, Development and Extension, and Admin and Finance.

During the closing program, the USM President, Francisco Gil N. Garcia, thanked the employees for their commitment and dedication to maintaining the ISO certificate. He also mentioned that there will always be room for improvement that the University must learn from.

In its pursuit to provide quality service in the community, the recertification indicates that the University continues to fulfill the needs and expectations of its clientele and employees.

USM’s ISO processes and other related activities are spearheaded by the University Quality Assurance Office (UQAO) headed by its director, Dr. Lawrence Anthony U. Dollente.

The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) Cultural Museum Advisory Committee (CMAC) attended the Museum Matterport Scanning Training held at the USM Museum, USM, Kabacan, Cotabato on February 21, 2024.

Concerning the ocular inspection and visit of our USM Cultural Museum by the Museum Technical Team from CHED/UP-Baguio held last October 2023, the USM Museum is one of the ten enlisted Museums in the Philippines that are beneficiaries of the Museum Management Training Year 3 project conducted by CHED, Museum Kordilyera, and UP-Baguio.

In his welcome address, Marcos F. Monderin, OIC-Vice President for Academic Affairs, recognized the vital role of tracing our past and acknowledged the impact of digitalizing artifacts across ethnolinguistic groups for the next generation to easily visualize their roots. Paolo Gabriel L. Alcantara, a member of the MMT3 Technical Team, highlighted the overview of the project and the features of the camera that will be utilized to capture the details of an area. Some camera features include matter tags, highlight reels, floorplan views, measurements, and dollhouse views. He also demonstrated how to use a camera and connected it to the application and the device that shall receive the captured space.

The output of the museum scanning will be part of the Philippine Museum Virtuality.

The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) recently hosted Mr. Roman Ermoshin, the Director of the global IT start-up InDriver, for a lecture on global Information Technology (IT) and business development on January 30, 2024 at the USM Commercial Building, Kabacan, Cotabato.

Emphasizing his extensive experience, Mr. Ermoshin talked about valuable insights into the worldwide IT landscape and its impact on business development. During his lecture, he underscored the importance of imagination and problem-solving skills, urging attendees to think of innovative solutions to societal challenges.

Addressing concerns about AI replacing human roles, Mr. Ermoshin highlighted that while AI may mimic human actions, it lacks the imaginative capacity that is natural to humans. "It is the human who created AI. They might perform tasks similarly, but they cannot envision solutions as humans do," he remarked.

The lecture spurred a positive open forum where attendees from the College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) actively participated. Questions ranged from inquiries about the programming language used in the InDriver app to insights into Mr. Ermoshin's journey. Further, he shared that overcoming overconfidence was a pivotal lesson he learned in his career. The event also attracted students from the College of Business Development Economics and Management (CBDEM), including the Administrative Council Members, faculty members, and staff.

The initiative, under the leadership of USM President Francisco Gil N. Garcia and organized by the Office for International Affairs led by Prof. Bryan Lloyd Bretaña, displayed USM's commitment to providing its community with access to global thought leaders.

This event not only enriches the academic landscape but also equips students to face the challenges and opportunities of the digital age.

January 02, 2023— Dr. Ma. Teodora N. Cabasan handed over the key of responsibility to Dr. Debbie Marie B. Verzosa as the new Vice President for Research, Development and Extension (VPRDE) at the Office of the President (OP), Administration Building, USM, Kabacan, Cotabato.

As designated by President Francisco Gil N. Garcia, Dr. Cabasan is now the director of the Research Publication Services Office (RPSO).

[𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒] USM Achieves 42.86% in Electronics Engineering, 75.00% in Electronics Technician October 2023 Board Examination

In the October 2023 Electronics Engineer Licensure Examination (ECE), the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) achieved a passing rate of 42.86%, surpassing the national passing rate of 33.36%. This result was attributed to the success of one first-time taker and two repeaters from USM.

On the same release date, USM attained a passing rate of 75% in the Electronics Technician (ECT) exam, outperforming the national passing rate of 73.52%. The USM examinees for ECT included two first-time takers and one repeater.

The Philippine Regulatory Commission (PRC) released these results today, October 27, 2023. In ECE, 2,524 took the examination, with only 842 passers. For the ECT, a total of 1,858 took the examination, with 1,366 passers.

Proving that they are indeed the best, the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers seized the coveted title of Pasiklaban 2023 Overall champion. Roaring their loudest chants while claiming their trophy last October 1 at the University of Southern Mindanao quadrangle by gaining 330 points by participating at various events in the two-week long celebration, they secured the title.

The said institute first won the same title at Liyab 2023 held last May and grabbed it once again at the CEIT fiesta last September 23.

Behind those victories, let us all be reminded that success is a harmony of hard-work, resilience and unity creating an achievement that reminds us of the heights and dreams we can reach!

The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers- USM Student Chapter won it's third crown this year after being hailed as the overall champion in Pasiklaban 2023 that lasted from September 25 - October 1, 2023

Dubbed as the grandest comeback, this year's Pasiklaban was participated by more than 60 student organizations, fraternities, and society.

PICE-USM SC clinched the top spot during the torch parade as well as bagged the second place in bench yelling.

Moreover, PICE-USM SC also emerged as runner-ups in field demo, larong pinoy, vlogging contest, body painting, and bandigmaan.

PICE’s Hiyas candidate was also able to advance in the semifinals, proving the team's outstanding performance across various events.

In an interview with Roy Aribon, the organization's president, he expressed how thankful he is despite the doubts and pressure.

“Doubted, Pressured, but thank God kasi na survive and gi sustain nya ang PICE throughout the week,” Aribon stated.

This marks as the organization's third overall champion title this year after winning Liyab 2023 in May and the College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) Fiesta in September.

“I’m looking forward to more success, like summit and other events" he concluded.
