We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of our recent seminar on "Awareness on Teenage Pregnancy and Family Planning," organized by the Sangguniang Kabataan of Lower Taviran together with the Social Work Intern From Cotabato City State University headed by Monisa S. Guiman in collaboration with the Municipal Rural Health Unit of Mother Kabuntalan.

It was an inspiring event filled with insightful discussions, shared experiences, and valuable learnings. Together with our esteemed fellow SK Chairman and passionate speakers, we delved into the complexities of teenage pregnancy and explored practical strategies for promoting family planning and reproductive health among our youth.

The seminar provided a platform for open dialogue and knowledge exchange, highlighting the importance of comprehensive s*x education, access to healthcare services, and community support in addressing the challenges faced by young people.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our esteemed speakers, the dedicated team from the Municipal Rural Health Unit headed by our Municipal Doctor, Dr. Harissa D. Amilil and to our guest speaker Princess Shaima H. Dama, RN and Saimabai M. Bagelen, RN. To our hardworking social work interns from Cotabato State University and to the Brgy. Officials of Lower Taviran headed by our Brgy. Chairman Hon. Nasser B. Macmod for their invaluable contributions and unwavering commitment to empowering our youth.

Youth Taking Active Role in Building a Sustainable Future and Healthy Planet

As we observe Earth Day today amidst the extreme heat that we are experiencing in the country, the National Youth Commission (NYC) emphasizes the urgent need for young people to unite in addressing the pressing environmental challenges of our time. Our planet's health is intricately tied to our own, and as outlined in the Philippine Youth Development Plan, environmental sustainability remains a paramount concern for our generation.

This Earth Day, we invite young individuals to take action. Climate change exacerbates challenges like droughts, water scarcity, and heat-related illnesses, underscoring our responsibility to protect our planet.

We encourage you to engage with local communities, participate in Earth Day events, and reduce your ecological footprint while addressing heat-related challenges. NYC's /Youth in Climate Action initiatives have raised awareness and mobilized youth effectively.

In addition, we invite SKs and youth organizations to join the activities organized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in celebration of Earth Day. Earth Day is an annual global event on April 22 that aims to heighten awareness of environmental issues and demonstrate support for environmental protection. First held in 1970, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by Earthday.org. In the Philippines, the entire month of April was also designated as the Month of the Planet Earth through Presidential Proclamation 1481.

This year's theme, "Planet vs. Plastics," highlights the impact of plastic pollution and promotes sustainable practices.

In partnership with UNICEF, DENR, CCC, DILG, OCD, and DepED, NYC is collaborating to finalize a behavioral change communication campaign focused on the Youth-led Climate Actions:
1. Consume responsibly
2. Refuse single-use plastics
3. Utilize rainwater
4. Walk, bike, or carpool
5. Leave no trace while traveling
6. Practice urban gardening
7. Grow a tree
8. Promote renewable energy
9. Foster environmental and energy consciousness
10. Contribute and share eco-data
Aligned with the Philippine Youth Development Plan, we encourage integrating these actions into your lives. By minimizing single-use plastics, conserving energy, supporting renewable resources, and nurturing environmental awareness, we can work towards a sustainable future.

As young changemakers, we have the power to drive transformative action towards a greener planet. Let's inspire environmental stewardship within our communities. Together, let's chart a course towards a more sustainable and resilient future for our nation and planet.

Ramadan Basketball League 2024 was successfully completed! The Brgy Officals headed by Brgy Chairman Hon. Naseer Macmod and also The SK Officials, headed by SK Chairman Hon. Datu Jehad D. Sangkad, are truly grateful to the Brgy officials, KK members, players, team captains, and everyone behind this success for their overwhelming support of our Ramadan League 2024.
