Chika Minute: The Chika-versary Encore! 🎇

📅📜 The UPLB Volleyball Club (UPLB VC), a prominent sports and recreational organization in the university, was established on July 24, 2004. Its formation was driven by a group of passionate PE 3️⃣ (now HK 12/HK 13) students under the class of Ma'am Leonora A. Dirain. These students recognized the need for a more inclusive volleyball community in UPLB, as the existing avenues for volleyball players, such as the varsity team and the Association of Volleyball Players (AVP), were limited to varsity members. With AVP eventually stopping its recruitment, Ma'am Dirain also saw the potential in creating a new club that would not only provide more opportunities for students to play volleyball but also assist in organizing volleyball activities 📣 and promoting the sport within the university. 🏐

The PE 3️⃣ students officially advocated for the creation of a club that would cater to all levels of players, envisioning a space where everyone could enjoy the sport, develop their skills, and build camaraderie. ❤️🤍 Their proposal attracted a diverse group of charter members, including varsity players seeking additional opportunities to play, as well as casual players who simply wanted to enjoy the game in a supportive environment. Over the course of 2️⃣0️⃣ years, the UPLB Volleyball Club has grown into the thriving community it is today, playing a crucial role in promoting the sport and its values within the university.

For our 20th anniversary, we have a lot of exciting chikas to share about our organization's journey. 📈 One major highlight is our significant growth in recent years. While we used to recruit an average of 5️⃣ new members per recruitment process, that number has grown to 1️⃣4️⃣ since 2018. This is a testament to our vibrant and active organization!
