Ending my October by securing a responsible mother from Bulacan. When I asked her what made her convinced to get a life insurance policy, her answer was very simple, and that is to make sure her 2 children will receive a lump sum payment whenever she is taken out of the picture.

Early this morning, I have a scheduled client meeting via Zoom, and when about to start, an unforeseen internet issue happened at home. I immediately advised the client about it. (Mabuti na lang mabait at maintindihin si Sir Jayson Naniong 😊). To be honest, I have the choice to reschedule the meeting, but since I value my client’s time and effort , that’s why I decided to look for nearby coffee shops or any cheap restaurant just to meet my client.

My takeaways

God knows that money is one of our basic needs meaning to say money is not the root of all evil but it is how you view and view money.

There are several principles from the bible that you can apply on how to become a good steward of money.

1. Pay Tithe
“Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops.”- Proverbs 3:9, NIV.
We are to give God the best and first of everything that we give Him, but specifically with our finances and all that we earn. We can honor God by paying the first ten percent of our income to Him through our local church.

2. Stay Out of Debt
“The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.” – Proverbs 22:7, ESV.
We can honor God by taking small steps toward paying off our debts, living below our means, and being content with what we do have and delaying gratification to save for what we want.

3. Giving
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.”- Colossians 3:23 Giving is action. Work heartily, give heartily.
Honoring God with any portion of our lives-including with our money-takes discipline, persistence, and grace. What is one step you can take today to honor God with your finances?

An excerpt from the movie, Facing the Giants

“Mr. Bridges: Grant, I heard of a story about two farmers who desperately needed rain. And both of them prayed for the rain, but only one of them went out and prepared his fields to receive it. Which one do you think trusted God to send the rain?

Coach Grant: Well, the one who prepared his fields for it.

Mr. Bridges: Which one are you? God will send the rain when he is ready. You need to prepare your field to receive it.”

God can do whatever He wants to do, however He wants to do it. And He chooses to work in our lives because He loves us and because He is good.

As we pray for the “rain”, let us also prepare our “fields” to receive it.

Some of God’s best blessings may be long in coming. Though they linger, keep looking to Him! - Habakkuk 2:3. He prepares every blessing with perfect wisdom and care—and He’s always worth waiting for.
