We are pleased to announce that the screening process for the 𝐇𝐔𝐌𝐒𝐒 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞 applicants has been completed, and the eagerly anticipated results have finally been 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝.

The question of "𝐁𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐭 𝐤𝐚 𝐧𝐚𝐠-𝐇𝐔𝐌𝐒𝐒?" is one that's often asked of Senior High students. 𝐖𝐚𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐚 𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐥, 𝐨𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐬?

The choice of strand can be a difficult one, and it's important to consider all the factors that went into making the decision as it may directly affect your future. For some students, the choice of strand is simple. They may have always loved reading, writing, or studying history and culture, making the choice to pursue the Humanities and Social Sciences easy. But for others, the choice can be a bit more complicated. They may have a passion in a field that crosses between two or more strands, or they may not have a clear idea of what they want to do after graduation yet.

But no matter what the reason may be, taking up the strand of 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 (𝐇𝐔𝐌𝐒𝐒) was a choice that you consciously did. You picked your place, and you will surely excel in it.

The 17th of July is the day in which the 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 is celebrated throughout nations. In a world where injustice reigns still, it’s a day that unites people in supporting justice and promoting victim rights, recognizes the importance of international criminal justice, as well as a historic date that commemorates the 𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐞 on July 17, 1998—the founding treaty of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The World Day for International Justice also recognizes the importance of international courts and how they work to hold people accountable for grave crimes that affect the whole world. The founding of 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭 (𝐈𝐂𝐂) is rooted in fighting for justice of victims of war, genocide, crimes of aggression, and crimes against humanity. 120 states adopted a statute in Rome, implying the order of 120 states to let the ICC investigate and prosecute individuals accused of these grave crimes.

The UN General Assembly of the United Nations, recognized the strategic significance of preparing youth for employment, decent labor, and entrepreneurial in 2014 by declaring July 15 as World Youth Skills Day.

This World Youth Skills Day is being observed to make sure that youth have access to the information and tools necessary to find employment and contribute to society. By increasing learning possibilities and skill development, it's also a chance to bring attention to the needs and difficulties that young people deal with.

For some of us, it could be hard to imagine a world without chocolate -- a delicacy that has been loved and enjoyed by people across the globe for centuries. July 7th marks a particularly sweet day, as it is officially recognized as 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲, a day devoted to celebrating all things chocolate. 🍩

The history of chocolate can be traced back thousands of years to the ancient Mayans and Aztecs, who originally considered the cocoa bean to be a currency of sorts. It wasn't until the 16th century that chocolate's popularity began to spread across Europe, and since then, it has become a true international sensation.

On World Chocolate Day, we have the opportunity to express our affection and care to our loved ones through the sweet indulgence of chocolate. On this day, we can choose to gift our special person with their favorite chocolate treats, or even bake them the sweet treats! The year-long service of every HUMSS Society Officer from 2023 to 2024 was all possible because of every humanista who believed and trusted in the first place. The road will be long; we may take divergent paths and ride different vehicles while others walk or run, but one thing is for sure: we are all aiming for a bright future ahead. It doesn't matter how long it may take, just trust the process.🙌

Si G*t. Jose Rizal ay kilalang 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐧𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭 at 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐚 sa kaniyang panahon. Siya ay nagtataglay ng kakayahang makapag-salita at umintindi ng dalawampu't dalawang (22) lenggwahe. Sa kaniyang pagkabata, naging tampulan siya ng tukso dahil kumpara sa kaniyang mga kaedad, siya ay kinukunsiderang "bansot" o "pandak". Ngunit kinulang man sa tangkad ay napunan naman ito ng kaniyang angking talino at galing sa larangan ng literatura, na kaniyang nadala hanggang sa kanyang pagtanda.

Ang 𝐋𝐚 𝐋𝐢𝐠𝐚 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐚, o ang tagong organisasyon na may layuning protektahan at isiwalat ang mga kamalian sa sistema ng mga Kastila sa mga Pilipino, ay itinatag ni G*t. Jose Rizal noong 1892. Subalit hindi rin ito nagtagal dahil sa pagkakadakip at pagpapadala kay Rizal sa Dapitan.

Si G*t. Jose Rizal ang manunulat sa likod ng mga nobelang 𝐍𝐨𝐥𝐢 𝐌𝐞 𝐓á𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐞 (𝟏𝟖𝟖𝟕) at 𝐄𝐥 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐨 (𝟏𝟖𝟗𝟏), na siyang nagmulat sa mga mata ng mga Pilipino sa pang-aagrabyado ng mga Kastila.

Isang siglo at anim na pu't tatlo na ang nakalilipas noong ipinanganak ang siyang nagsilbing pambansang bayani ng bansa, ngunit ang kaniyang kadakilaan ay nanatiling malaking bahagi ng ating kasaysayan.

𝐄𝐢𝐝 𝐚𝐥-𝐀𝐝𝐡𝐚, also known as "The Feast of Sacrifice," celebrates the loyalty and devotion of Prophet Abraham, who offered his son Ismail as a sacrifice to God in obedience to His command, which demonstrated his complete faith and trust in Allah. This Islamic holiday falls on the 10th day of the 12th month, Dhu Al Hijj, and is followed by three additional days of celebration.

Traditionally, families who can afford to sacrifice a ritually acceptable animal such as a sheep, goat, camel, or cow may do so and divide the meat equally among themselves, the poor and needy, and their loved ones and neighbors. This act of giving, sharing, and connecting through community and charity, reminds us of the importance of love and compassion.

STUDENT LEADERS TAKE CENTER STAGE IN THE 1ST CAN 🤝🏻✨

Reminiscing on the school year that has been, Office for Student Affairs (OSA) hosted the first-ever Chiefs’ Awards Night last June 4, at the Arellano University (AU) - Juan Sumulong Campus’ Little Theater.

This special evening was attended by 132 chiefs including Dean Sherwin Punla, Assistant Vice President for Marketing Abegail Cayco, Psychometrician Antonette Cayco, OSA Coordinators, Campus Organization Advisers, and student-leaders from all over the seven campuses.

In Jose Rizal Campus (JRC), the outstanding student leaders awards were given to Maria Barria of Senior Supreme Student Council (SSC), Rovi Que of Tourism Management Society (TMS), Clarize Balagtas of Senior SSC, Andrea Aurelio of College Supreme Student Council (SSC), Mitch Miraballes of Rizal Performing Arts Guild (RPAG), and Ferson Cabilen of Senior SSC were awarded as the Most Active President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Auditor, and Public Relations Officer, respectively.

While for the student organization awards, TMS was awarded as the Best in Co-Curricular Activity, RPAG as the Best in Extra Curricular Activity, Hospitality Management Society (HMS) as the Best in Outreach Activity, and Senior and College SSC, Computer Science Student Society, and TMS and HMS as the Most Active Organizations.

Meanwhile, students who participated in competitions outside the university were also given recognition. Namely, Lawrenze Santiago as a committee of TRAC in Baguio; Reiven Palaganas who joined YMCA’s Spoken Word Poetry, and Ginoo at Binibining Malabon representing Brgy. Santulan; Andrea Nicole Aurelio who joined the Philippine Brightest Buwis Master Contestant and Malabon Finalist; Shania Heart Tumala who competed in the TRAC 2nd Campus Journalism’s News Writing Contest; and Demy Wayne Mendiola who competed in Robinson’s SWAG: The Street Dance Battle.

Additionally, among the Top 10 Student Leaders in AU, Senior SSC President Maria Barria and College SSC Treasurer Andrea Aurelio of JRC received the Outstanding Chiefs Leader Award.

Aside from student leaders awards, Gian Rafael Dela Cruz, the Campus Adviser of RPAG and Supreme Student Government, swept the Most Active Campus Adviser among all the seven campuses of AU.

As the University reminisces its achievements, the Arellano community will continue to recognize the hard-work of its student leaders and staff in the following years.
