The National Center for Mental Health, in collaboration with Communitails Philippines, is pleased to announce available positions for a project funded by the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Council Health for Research and Development. The project entitled “𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗣𝗔𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗦: 𝗣𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹-𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝘆 (𝗔𝗔𝗧) 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗱𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘂𝗺𝗮 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀” seeks to examine the effectiveness of an animal-assisted therapy program in decreasing symptoms of post-traumatic stress, depression, and anxiety among female adolescent survivors of abuse.

This week, Communitails officially began our project with the National Center for Mental Health on Animal-Assisted Interventions for patients with Chronic Schizophrenia, headed by Dra. Maria Olivia Reyes-Sudio, a psychiatry resident of NCMH and Steward of Communitails. To prepare for the sessions, our HATs and Stewards paid a visit to the NCMH facilities and got to know the work and people involved, including the Chief of the Chronic Pavilion Dra. Evelyn Belen. 💙🐶

This will be the first study conducted on the effectiveness of AAI on Chronic Schizophrenia patients in the country, and we are beyond excited and hopeful to gather fruitful insights on the vital role of the human-animal bond in our health, especially for populations with serious medical conditions.

Communitails, Inc. is a community of wellness and animal welfare advocates who believe that healing can occur mutually between people and animals through the human-animal bond. Our training course drives the further improvement of the field of Animal-Assisted Interventions in the country. We build our community by training and certifying Human-Animal Teams (HATs) and Stewards to ensure we meet international standards of AAI practice and we'd love for you to join us by being a part of our growing community of AAI practitioners! 💙🐶

Communitails' Training Course will provide you with evidence-based, comprehensive knowledge, and skills training essential to the research and practice of Animal-Assisted Interventions. Our latest engagement with Assumption Antipolo was one of the first structured animal-assisted support programs conducted by Communitails. The program was designed for Grades 3-6 students with the primary theme of gratitude. With close collaboration between our team and the school guidance counselors, we managed to have another super successful session! 😍

April 28 2-24 marked the first animal-assisted therapy session with our partners, the Atlantic Institute, the Philippine Survivor Network, and the International Justice Mission. 💙🐾

With the module "Body Buddy", participants were able to link canine body language and stress signals to human stress signals, becoming more aware of their personal stress responses.

This gathering brought together the Atlantic Institute, the Philippine Survivor Network, the International Justice Mission, and Communitails as the start of a partnership involving animal-assisted therapy for the well-being of survivor leaders.
