me gah-lay in Cantonese, cooks added curry powder to a stir-fried vermicelli dish and named it after Singapore. Thailand had its own locally created curry dishes, called kaeng, but British curry powder gave them what we now know as yellow curry. The British continued to bring curry powder with them with their next stop being Japan. From 1868 the popularity of kare raisu grew with the military, where Curries did a good job of disguising bland or tough meats. Fast forward to 2021 and British Chef - Phil Golding - based in Manila, understood that fact that if Curry tastes good with bland meats last century, it would be phenomenal with quality & fresh ingredients now! He explored Asia and found, in Malaysia, wonderful curry pastes which we now import to the Philippines and infuses ILoveCurry with its unique and authentic flavors. Local Pinoy Chef - Chad Datu - focused on the creation of a series of Curry dishes that harnessed the new Malaysian pastes and carefully added local and international elements. Filipino American Chef - Daniel Lachica - in collaboration with our first two chefs developed the method to prepare and deliver these beautiful dishes, on a daily basis, for Curry loving customers all over the Philippines. ILoveCurry is the fusion of three chefs passionate work, building upon the heritage of Curry, to deliver a truly flavourful, quality and international experience. We believe Curry is a local and international passion. ILoveCurry’s eight original dishes criss-cross many of those same countries found on the original Curry journey emanating from India: Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines.
