Isa sa mga hindi napapansin sa panahon ng sigalot ang kahalagahan ng Internet access para sa mga taong naiipit sa gyera, lalo na para sa mga kababaihan. Sa panahon ng kaguluhan, bukod sa walang habas na karahasan, inaaasahan din natin ang hindi pagkilala sa mga karapatang pantao. Ang sadyang pagpuputol ng Internet access sa isang lugar ay isang karapatang pantao na nakakaapekto sa araw-araw na daloy ng buhay ng mamamayan.

Para kay Fyz na mula sa Marawi, madalas niya nang naranasan ang kawalan ng Internet dulot ng nangyayari sa kanilang syudad.

Kwento ni Fyz sa isang interview kasama ang FMA, nararanasan niya ang mawalan ng signal or internet connection "tuwing may military operations at minsan tuwing may bibisitang malaking government official" sa Marawi.

Madalas na binabanggit na rason sa likod nito ang umano pagpapatigil sa komunikasyon sa pagitan ng mga rebelde. Habang wala pang pruweba ito, nahahadlangan nito ang pang-araw-araw na gawain ni Fyz, tulad ng pagtratrabaho at pakikipagusap sa mga kamag-anak na kailangan ng koneksyon sa Internet.

"Apart from that, nagkaroon din po kami ng pangamba sa seguridad ng aming mga pamilya na naiwan sa bahay dahil hindi namin sila makontak," kwento ni Fyz.

Dagdag na pagsubok para sa publiko ang kawalan ng Internet connection sa mga sona ng giyera. Lalong nagiging mahirap para sa kanila gawin ang mga simpleng bagay tulad ng pangangamusta, pagtrabaho o paghanap ng trabaho, at kahit paglilibang. Para sa mga kababaihan, ang kawalan ng Internet ay kawalan din ng access sa edukasyon at komunidad. Iniiwan nito ang kababaihan na mas bulnerable sa karahasan at intimidasyon.

Kaya mahalagang kasama sa pagtuligsa natin sa gyera ang pagpapa-ingay sa isyu ng Internet access sa panahon man ng kaguluhan o hindi. Susi ang pagkakaroon ng Internet sa pagehersisyo ng ating karapatan, at higit, sa pagbuo ng mas maganda at malawak na komunidad.

Malaki ang ginagampanan ng Internet sa pagbuo at pagpapasigla ng koneksyon natin sa isa't isa. Kaya sa panahon ng kawalan ng signal, madali tayong naaaligaga dahil naputol din ang ugnayan natin sa ating pamilya, kaibigan, at komunidad.

Para kay Faidah mula sa Marawi City, matinding pag-aalala ang dulot ng madalas na pagkawala ng Internet sa kanilang syudad.

On Sunday, December 3, Major General Gabriel Viray III of the first Infantry Division in Marawi City announced that there were more than 46 casualties recorded, including 11 deaths, subsequent to the horrendous bombing at Dimaporo Gymnasium, Mindanao State University-Marawi (MSU).

In light of the recent incident in Mindanao State University (MSU) Main Campus in Marawi City, the Bangsamoro Government is taking immediate action to ensure the safety of the civilians and to assist those who are directly affected by the explosion.

Agad na bumisita Si Gov. Bombit Adiong sa APMC upang personal na kumustahin ang wounded victims ng bombing incident kaninang umaga sa MSU Dimaporo Gymnasium, Marawi City. Alhamdulillah. Dadn makandarainon so Governor tano.

𝐎𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓 | 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟑 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭

The Mindanao State University (MSU) community is deeply saddened and appalled by the act of violence that occurred during a religious gathering at the university gymnasium this morning of December 3. We unequivocally condemn in the strongest possible terms this senseless and horrific act and extend our heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families. We are committed to providing support and assistance to those affected by this tragedy.

Our immediate priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of all constituents, particularly our Christian community. We are aware of the heightened sensitivities and concerns that arise from such a tragic event, and we want to assure everyone that we are taking every measure possible to protect our students, faculty, and staff.

The university administration has suspended classes and all academic activities until further notice and has deployed additional security personnel to safeguard the campus. We are also working closely with the local government units and law enforcement authorities to investigate this incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.

We stand in solidarity with our Christian community and all those affected by this tragedy. We will not be deterred by this act of violence, and we will continue to work towards building a more peaceful and just MSU community.

Violence has no place in a civilized society, and it is particularly abhorrent in an institution of higher learning like MSU, a bulwark of peace, harmony, solidarity, reverence for life and humanity. This attack is an assault on our core values and our commitment to creating a safe and inclusive community for all.
