A continuation of the Required Organizational Practices (ROP) lecture.
This meeting’s topics are about:
• Client identification
• The ‘Do not use’ List of abbreviations
• Medication reconciliation
• Safe surgery checklist
• Information transfer at care transition
The Heart Institute adheres to these practices to help prevent medical errors, improve patient outcomes, and ensure the overall quality and safety of our services.
Last meeting was a fully loaded Thursday event.
Our morning session started with a workshop for sutures and Harmonics conducted by Johnson & Johnson company’s sales agent.
This was followed by a working lunch lecture on Required Organizational Practice by one of our patient safety officers Dr. Athena Derico-Abdullah, where she tackled the topics of Patient safety manual, Accountability for quality, and patient safety quarterly reports.
Dr. Ali T. Macatanong also gave a talk about Safety culture, Patient safety Incident management, and Patient safety incident disclosure.
The workshop has helped the staff to gain knowledge about the differences between sutures, their uses and their relevance. The workshop on Harmonics allowed the participants to practice and gain skills on operating the equipment properly.
The lectures were able to convey essential information and concepts to the participants about the topics that were tackled relevant to optimize patient safety.
And by afternoon, the presentation of each unit’s 3Ps and 1F. By this, we were able to identify past problems, finding solutions and foster innovation in healthcare.

Engage- engage with all that surrounds you.
Embrace- embracing the challenges that come your way, for they are stepping stones to success and innovation.
Complying with our weekly coming together.❤️
Through the 3Ps (patient, process, personnel ) and F (facility) strategy, we were able to discuss each unit’s progress, updates, issues, and feedback to keep everyone on track towards achieving high-quality standards of care.
Also, a very informative and educational lecture on radiation protection was done by our dear Radtechs, Mr. Dennis Commendador and Mr. Ariollah Pundato, as it provides great relevance in managing radiation safety not only for the patients but also for our employees.
