Wala pa ring espesyal.

Kumbaga sa tinapay, ito ‘yung walang palaman. Daig pa ng chicharon na inaalok sa bus. Walang espesyal, na parang ‘yung kinasanayang b’yahe ko pauwi sa bahay. Sakto lang ang pamasahe sa tricycle — kailangang maghintay ng kasabay — hindi p’wedeng b’yaheng espesyal.

Unti-unti, nasasanay na rin ako. Tinatanggap ko na lang na baka hindi para sa’kin ang taon na ito. Baka dumaan lang talaga ako dito para masabing bahagi pa rin ako ng mundo. Baka ipinaranas lang sa’kin ang lumipas na labing-isang buwan para maramdaman ko ang sarili ko.

Nandito pa rin pala ako. Humihinga. Naghihintay. Nangangarap. Umaasang sa susunod na araw, may kakaibang magaganap. May hirap, may sikap, pero hindi talaga sapat. Kahit anong pilit kong hakbang sa bawat buwan, ibinabalik lang ako nito sa walang katiyakan.

Parang walang nangyari. Itinawid ko lang talaga ang sarili.

Kaya’t sa huling buwan ng taon na ito, hindi na ‘ko masyadong umaasa. Ibinaba ko na ang ekspektasyon ko sa mga araw na dadaan pa. Ayos na sa’kin ang normal na paghinga — walang ligalig, hindi rin kinikilig. Naghihintay, pero hindi na nasasabik.

Kumbaga sa tinapay, ayos na sa’kin ang kinasanayang pandesal. Sa chicharon naman, wala namang hindi espesyal. Lahat ata ng produkto, kapag iniakyat na sa bus, nagiging espesyal. At marahil ganito rin sa b’yahe ng buhay — kung minsan, kailangan mo lang sumakay, at sumabay, at magpatangay.

Ayos lang kung ‘di mo ramdam ang b’yaheng espesyal. Ang mahalaga, hindi ka humihinto sa’yong paglalakbay.
