The Jesus who is portrayed in the four Gospels is very cherishing. All people need Him to cherish them, to make them happy, comfort them, and give them rest. If He came to us in His divine status, this would intimidate us. But even the most sinful tax collectors could sit with Him as friends, eating and talking with Him.

Ephesians 6:24 says, "Grace be with all those who love our Lord Jesus Christ in incorruptibility." To whom is grace given here? God gives it to those who love the Lord in incorruptibility.

First Peter 1:8 says, "Whom having not seen, you love; into whom though not seeing Him at present, yet believing, you exult with joy that is unspeakable and full of glory." This verse says that we love Him because we believe in Him. What is borne out of this love through believing? It is joy that is unspeakable and full of glory.

May we be a passionate lover of the Lord Jesus, not the world (nor the things of the world with the lust of the flesh and the eyes, and the vainglory of life)!

It still may be vague to us to say that God is Spirit (John 4:24) because the Spirit is abstract and intangible. Thus, in his Gospel John says, “In the beginning was the Word...and the Word was God” (1:1). Also in Revelation he says that the Lord Jesus is the Word (19:13)....If we want to contact God, we must know that God is Spirit and that He is the Word….We know that God is wonderful, hidden, and mysterious. He is invisible; we cannot see Him, much less locate Him. As a result, many people have the problem of not knowing how to touch God. They do not know how to contact and fellowship with Him….But thank God that through John He said that He is Spirit and that He is the Word. He is Spirit, and He is in the Spirit; He is the Word, and He is in the Word. Therefore, to fellowship with God is to touch God in His Spirit and in His Word.
