TODAY | The President of the Tabak Defense Press Corps (TDPC) paid a courtesy visit to the Commander of the 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division at the Hall of Flags.

Ms. Leah Agonoy and her team were warmly received by Maj. Gen. Gabriel C. Viray lll, Division Commander.

The purpose of their visit was to discuss upcoming activities and enhance coordination with the Division Public Affairs Office, focusing on strengthening communication and promoting transparency.

𝐈𝐬𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧 - On Monday, October 23, 2023, a feuding family from Tabuan Lasa was reconciled by the 101st Infantry (Three Red Arrows) Brigade headed by Brigadier General Alvin V Luzon, at Headquarters 101Bde, Barangay Tabiawan, Isabela City, Basilan.

Complementary to the unit’s campaign to maintain peace and order in the island province of Basilan is the continuous effort to settle family feuds (Rido) and clan wars.

Settled was the feud between Sadam Ahalul, an incumbent Barangay Chairman and son of Tabuan Lasa Vice Mayor, Isnirul Ahalul and Gregory Ahalul, a first-degree cousin and an aspiring Barangay Chairman both of Barangay Suligan (Bubuan Island) Tabuan Lasa, Basilan. Both parties promised not to further engage in violent acts in the presence of Brigadier General Luzon who acted as the mediator and other witnesses in attendance during the settlement.

Through the initiative of the LGU-Tabuan Lasa with the support of 101st Infantry Brigade, the warring parties also surrendered their fi****ms during the settlement which manifested their willingness to embrace peace and live harmoniously with their families.
Collectively, the feuding parties yielded four (4) M16 rifles and a cal. 45 pistol to the 101st Infantry Brigade.

In his message, Brigadier General Luzon reiterated that conflicts cannot be solved by a cycle of violence, while it is best to exercise restraint and promote the culture of dialogue.

The activity was witnessed by Hon Munir S Manisan, Mayor of Tabuan Lasa; Colonel Frederick M Sales, Deputy Brigade Commander of 101st Brigade; Lieutenant Colonel Abel O Potutan, Commanding Officer of 64th Infantry Battalion; Lieutenant Colonel Stephen Encarnacion, Commanding Officer of 5th Scout Ranger Battalion.
