Full Exterior Detail Paint Correction

Didn’t expect this to have very soft and sticky paint, not to mention it only has 70+ microns left of it (thick and healthy clearcoat should be atleast 100+). Every detailer’s dilemma is removing all defects or leaving considerable amount of clear coat for the oem paint’s longevity. This is a good project car and it deserves original paint so I’d rather remove only the minor defects than risk thinning out his paint.
Very thankful for our scph member for this challenging experience, it made me review again my notes about this craft.

Mineral deposits, swirls and scratches, iron fallout, asphalt, oxidation and every dirt or paint defect you can find in a motorcycle was present on this Adventure Scooter. This was obviously a challenge, and we like challenges!

VESPA Sprint 150
Polished and Coated

This 2-day old vespa even though brand new, has plenty of swirls and holograms throughout its paintwork. This normally happens because of logistics overseas and locally. With its slightly soft and thin paint, a single-stage polish was enough to remove the defects topping it off with our Gyeon CanCoat to protect it from the elements

Vespa LX150

This classic vespa got repainted and unfortunately it didn't look so good.
It was full of pinholes and dirt and debris literally inside the clear coat.

We had to de-nib all debris carefully to avoid further damage on the sanding process. We sanded all orange peel on all panels to reveal its mirror flat finish.

Oxidized chromes and metals were sanded and polished

Finally, we polished it 2 stages and applied Gyeon Pure to make that red color pop!

Interior Detail

People normally like a black interior since it doesn’t look dirty as light colored ones. But black only hides the dirt and stains which in turn makes it harder to see upon cleaning. We clean black interiors as hard as any color, sometimes harder, to make sure its properly cleaned. The only way you can check your progress is on your towels (light-colored ones are best) making sure no dirt is left when you wipe it. That means cleaning everything even though you don’t see any dirt on them.

Silver isn’t one of the shiniest colors and defects are not easier to see. With its short turnaround time, this project was very challenging to deliver for its extremely large body.

All of our correction lights in our arsenal were used to make sure we see every bit of defects all over the paint. It took us few of different pad-compound combos for every panel just to get the right amount of defect removal and restoring gloss, but the results were absolutely stunning especially after the application of GYEON MOHS EVO.

The client sent us the updates on how the water literally slides off the paint on heavy rains during their out of town trip.

White cars tend to become yellowish because of contaminants. Performance cars with big brakes produce too much brake dust and iron contaminants that affect the paint’s health and cleanliness. An extensive decon wash is needed to restore the paint’s condition. Sometimes an exterior detail doesn’t t need any polishing to restore its gloss

Ỉn collaboration again with Clean_AlleyPH, we coated this 2 weeks old to give it a durable protection on its early stages. We gave it a proper decon wash to remove iron contaminants, light waterspots and asphalt from its daily beating from the city roads. Polished it to remove the slight haze due to its storage in the dealership and to give it that wet-look gloss.

This subie came in with a very rough paint and orange spots everywhere indicating it was covered with iron particles. Iron contaminants dont just make the paint look dull but they are also corrosive since they are actually rust from brake dusts and other industrial fallouts. Mineral deposit build up are also on every crevice that needs to be properly addressed to give it the real “clean look”.

Dirty wheels bleed purple!

Iron contamination from brake dust can cause your wheels to corrode through time.
A proper wheel wash with proper chemicals can prevent this to make your wheels looking brand new again. Cleaning with just soap or detergents isn’t enough!

There are time we use Acidic, (to remove mineral deposits) Alkaline (to remove grime) or petrol/solvent based (to remove tar/asphalt) to properly clean a wheel.

We already coated this Prima last year but unfortunately our client got a bit of a mishap early this year and had to repaint some few panels of the chassis. Another unfortunate thing is the painter buffed the entire body of the scooter removing our ceramic coating that we applied last year. With their very agressive wool pads and techniques it gave the paint more of a hazy finish that we now need to polish again with our fine compounds that cuts and finishes precisely and re-applied Gyeon CanCoat again for protection.

This MU-X was brought to us with an oxidized hood, right fender with a mismatched color and orange peel, roof entirely covered with hard watermarks.

It went through a 3-day paint correction process that includes:

-Decontamination Wash
-Paint Claying (Mechanical decon)
-Degrimming and mineral deposits removal
-Sanding of the hood and fender to remove the layer of oxidation and repaint defect
-Multi-stage Polishing to remove swirls and enhance gloss
-Watermarks removal on all glass
-Precoating prep

First one to experience our revamped Niche Studio. Another car with very sticky paint putting our skills to the limit. it was full of deep scratches, acid burn/clear coat failure and severe swirl marks. Removing defects was easy with its very soft clear coat but finishing it to a deep gloss was a challenge. We tried changing our techniques from soft pads to highly lubricated polished and even changed to a less agressive polisher to prevent it from having a hazy finish. The end-results was very rewarding for us!

With only 88 microns (from subtrate to top coat) of paint to work with, we had to carefully polish the paint making sure we only shave off a few microns. The paint was also extremely STICKY to the point that we used our softest pads. Not to mention the hellish afternoon heat that’s making our compounds dry.

This big bike was full of swirls that it got from feather dusters. we gave it a thorough decon wash to remove grime and contaminants and carefully polished its soft paint to bring back its gloss.

Good thing the owner is well equipped and washes his bike himself. Also, we taught proper ways to wash and maintain the bike for the longevity of the coating.

This daily traffic be**er is full of swirls and scratches so it needs some multi-stage polishing

Problem with mass produced motorcycles/scooters is they have very thin paint.

A slow and safe technique is used to polish the paint with a medium cut compound and a soft pad before prepping the paint for ceraming coating application
