Here is my formal statement about the Pokesinger contest:

After meeting Tensai's Hub, reading his statements, and witnessing first hand what had happened in the event. ..I fully believe he won the contest! Has no involvement with the event itself, and shouldn't be dragged down with organizational mismanagement.

A lot of people are suspicious of him due to his involvement with the two outside orgs that were outsourced by Pokeverse, as well as him being pullled as a contest judge.

However, after witnessing the event first hand. I fully believe they just pulled him up there not planning it long in advance because the cosplay organization was familiar with him already.
I myself had to perform staff duties in the convention like helping people queue in the line, giving signature rates, as well as give directions to congoers.

They pulled me up on stage a second time to be an intermission act, so if someone is suddenly pulled up as a judge, its believable.

When All winners performed on stage with Mr. Paige those were theee passionate people who really wanted to be there.

When we were pulled up a second time, we had to scramble ON STAGE trying to decide who is singing what parts. We had no practice, no rehearsal, we didn't even know each other before this event. But we did it anyway and it was GENUINELY AWESOME. And we did it for ourselves and the community.

Let's talk about Pokeverse Philippines, heinous unprofessionalism and disregard for basic boundaries and consent.

FOR CONTEXT: Pokeverse Philippines was an expo held in SM megamall from May 31-June 2.

To promote their event they held a "POKESINGER CONTEST". A contest where Pokémon fans uploaded videos of themselves singing for a chance to sing with the great Jason Paige (The original singer of the Pokémon theme song)

The announcement of winners was scheduled on Sunday, May 27 at 11pm. I waited until late at night for the stream to come, and only learned it was postponed to Monday May 28, when Pokeverse replied to my comment on their post. They did not make any public announcement about the live stream being postponed.

When the day of the livestream finally came and the winners were announced. It was revealed that all the participants of the contest would get a free pass to the convention and the TOP 3 WINNERS of the contest would be able to sing on stage with Jason Paige.

As the 2nd Place winner I was promised a 1st edition Pokeverse hat (which I never received) as well as the other VIP perks.

I received my ticket ON THE DAY OF THE CONVENTION ITSELF. I had made multiple posts and comments saying my messages were open and even put my email on my page. I checked with the other participants and they also received their tickets late at night.

But because Pokeverse did not do their due diligence and DID NOT SEND ME ANY EMAILS. I only got into contact with them at 1 IN THE MORNING on THE DAY OF THE EVENT after sending them a message on my private Facebook account AND making a phone call to their business number.

When I got in contact with someone on messenger they sent me MULTIPLE FAILED VOUCHER CODES for a single vip ticket for a single day. They told me to "Come on Sunday" and then I had to explain that every participant was promised a 3 day pass and that it was unfair that as the second placer I could only go for one day.

I wish I had only went for one day. Because out of every con I've ever attended THIS EXPO IS THE VERY WORST.

On the first day I lacked sleep because of the ticket issue, but the EXPO was set to have a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:00 so I came early.

The ribbon cutting happened at past TWELVE NOON. I had waited TWO HOURS in a line for NO REASON, and the con did not even announce that the ceremony would be delayed.

The convention center was basically Barren with barely any standees designs or decorations filling all the EMPTY SPACES. The place was LITTERED with EMPTY TABLES and the promised floor plans on their page were suddenly changed. There were SO FEW INDIE ARTISTS despite the expo being advertised as "FOR FANS BY FANS".

On the first day of the convention there was supposedly a "resting area" but there were no signs or markers indicating that.

So on the second day, they put the resting area beside the AUDIENCE CHAIRS. They put the bean bags in one side, and because that was the ONLY resting area, cosplayers and congoers started using that place to undress, fix their costumes and lie down on the bean bags because there was no cosplay lounge despite the con suddenly being advertised as a cosplay event.

Since the resting lounge was suddenly moved to the main stage THE CAMERA CREW WOULDN'T LEAVE IT ALONE. WHEN MY FRIENDS SAT DOWN TO REST AND DOODLE, THE CAMERAMEN SHOVED THEIR CAMERAS CLOSE TO THEIR FACES. THE CAMERAMEN ALSO FILMED UNATTENDED CHILDREN RESTING IN THE BEANBAG CHAIRS.
These people DID NOT CONSENT TO FILM, THIS FOOTAGE WOULD NOT EVEN COUNT AS AUDIENCE REACTIONS BECAUSE THIS IS EXPLICITLY SUPPOSED TO BE THE REST AREA.

The organizers actually RECOGNISED THIS ISSUE. And PERSONALLY APOLOGIZED TO MY FRIEND for repeatedly hounding them with a camera even if they specifically wore a hat mask and shades and kept away from big spaces to DRAW PRIVATELY In a REST AREA

BUT THEY STILL POSTED THEIR VIDEO. THEY STILL VIOLATED THEIR PRIVACY. THEY STILL HAVEN'T TAKEN THE VIDEO DOWN AFTER MULTIPLE PROMISES, MULTIPLE REQUESTS AND MULTIPLE OF THEIR EMPTY APOLOGIES.

On the Third Day of the convention, all the winners of the pokesinger contest were trying to get together to do at least one practice with Jason Paige before our actual performance.

We were all snubbed for hours. We did not get any practice at all. Then suddenly we were all called to the stage to perform with jason. I wasn't able to fix my hair or clothes or anything! And I was going to be on their livestream!

They suddenly called us up on stage and we all sang with Jason Paige with No practice. AND IT WAS ACTUALLY GOOD! Despite everything, Jason Paige was a TRUE SHOWMAN, and he directed us to sing the lines as well as he could. And it was great!

Then. They called the WINNERS ONLY. UP ON THE STAGE. \\\AGAIN\\\

THEY TOLD US SUDDENLY THAT WE WERE GOING TO SING AGAIN. JUST THE THREE OF US. ON THE STAGE. NO PRACTICE. NO PLANS. THEY CALLED US ON THE STAGE, THEY JUDGED THE COSPLAY CONTEST...

AND THEY BASICALLY MADE US THE INTERMISSION NUMBER BEFORE THE TCG BROADCAST WHICH WE DID NOT CONSENT TO PRIOR. THEY DID NOT TELL US THAT THEY WOULD USE US TO STALL FOR TIME. THEY DID NOT TELL US THE TWO DAYS BEFORE.
I BASICALLY PERFORMED LABOR FOR THEM. AND I WAS NOT COMPENSATED FAIRLY.

I am VERY DISAPPOINTED with my experience of this EXPO. I did not appreciate ME AND MY FRIENDS being treated like props and performers when we were simple CON GOERS and a CONTEST WINNER.

The only good thing that came out of this EXPO are the friendships and acquaintances I made with the vendors, exhibitors, indie booths, fellow con goers and the guests.

I feel nothing but sympathy for all the professionals who had to work with this event.

DO BETTER. POKEVERSE.

I didn't even get my first edition hat. 0/10. 🧢
