🧚♂️✨ Celebrate National Tooth Fairy Day today, February 28th! Take a stroll down dental history as we explore the origins of this enchanting dental helper, encouraging good oral hygiene in our little ones.
In 1927, Esther Watkins Arnold introduced an eight-page playlet for children titled "The Tooth Fairy," coinciding with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's whimsical claims of real fairies and gnomes. The imaginative world embraced the idea of a tooth fairy collecting lost teeth and leaving a coin or two in return.
Arnold's play soon graced school performances, and the tooth fairy has been visiting homes ever since, leaving nickels and dimes under pillows. Variations on this charming tradition have emerged over the years.
National Tooth Fairy Day, observed on February 28th, was established by children's author Katie Davis. Interestingly, there's another observance on August 22nd, neatly spaced six months apart, reminiscent of the recommended biannual dental cleanings by most Dental Associations. 🗓️🌟

From 5th to 11th December 2023 - Handwashing Awareness Week.
We have come a long way since hand hygiene was first introduced to healthcare in the 19th century by Hungarian physician, Ignaz Semmelweis. The evidence is overwhelming that hand hygiene is the most effective action to reduce the spread of pathogens. Handwashing should be at the forefront of all disease-fighting efforts in hospitals and dental clinics. With newer technology, research, and more access to hand hygiene products than ever before, barriers to cleaning hands have significantly decreased. So soap up, and join the efforts to stop the spread of infections!

Press Release | 30 Oct 2023
The Department of Health (DOH) today strongly advised the public to refrain from bringing small children to cemeteries to prevent injuries and diseases caused by overcrowding.
"I am advising parents and caregivers not to bring small children to cemeteries as overcrowding and intense heat and sudden unexpected downpour may cause diseases to small children", Health Secretary Teodoro J. Herbosa warned.
He added that although COVID-19 is plateuing, the threat of the disease is still present. There are still sporadic cases and increasing cases in some regions. Also, small children has low resistance against infections.
The health chief also cautioned against patronizing ambulant vendors inside and outside of the cemeteries selling green mangoes, sandwiches, fruit juices, and other similar food stuff. He explained that these food may be contaminated by unsafe water & other elements of the environment which may compromise the health and safety of consumers.
The DOH advises people going to cemeteries to plan their visit, bring their own water and food to ensure their safety and prevent diseases. Also, refrain from bringing salads and other food which may easily spoil due to heat.
"We can all prevent contracting diseases when visiting our dearly departed loved ones. Let us be responsible with our actions and make our visit solemn.", Herbosa ended.
