Supposed to be, nagma-marathon siya ngayon ng K-Drama. Ang kaso, ang napaka-insensitive niyang boss na si Ms. Estacio, binalaan ang kung sino man sa team nito ang hindi sasama ngayon. Kesyo kailangan daw nilang pabanguhin ang pangalan ng kanilang team sa bago nilang presidente.
Kaya naman, kasalukuyan siyang patingin-tingin na lang kina Vince at Angel na masayang nagku-kwentuhan na akala mo ay nasa dinner date ang mga ito. Pasimple niya pa ngang tinignan ang ilalim ng mesa kung magkahawak-kamay ba ang dalawa eh. Pero nang makita niyang hindi naman, ay nakahinga siya ng maluwag.
Dinagdagan pa ng balahura niyang kaibigan ang inis niya dahil nililimitahan nito ang tagay niya. Kesyo baka magwala na naman daw siya o di kaya’y mawala na naman siyang bigla. Kulang na lang sabihin nito sa kanyang juice na lang ang inumin niya.

Nilapit niya ang mukha sa bandang tenga nito at saka bumulong. “Hindi ako makainom ng maayos dahil dito sa bruhildang kaibigan ko,” reklamo niya rito.
Natawa naman ito sa sinabi niya. At kumuha ng isang boteng beer at binuhos sa baso nito. “Here,” nilagay nito sa pagitan nilang dalawa ang baso. “Inumin mo na lang ‘yan kapag nakatingin sa kabila si Jane.”
“Omo! Ang sweet mo naman!” pinisil pa niya ang pisngi nito sa sobrang tuwa. Sinadya niyang lakasan ang boses para makarating sa kabilang dulo ng mesa ang kasiyahan niya. Nginitian naman siya ni Mark na parang alam nito kung anong kinakana niya.
“‘Di ka ba naiinitan sa suot mo?” Jusko. Kanina pa nga siya pawis na pawis dahil mahina ang aircon sa kinakainan. Nagulat siya ng biglang binaba nito ang hoodie niya at mabilis na napatingin ito sa leeg niya. “Ah. Kaya pala.” Isusuot na sana niya ulit ang hoodie kaso ay hinawakan ni Mark ang buhok niya at saka pinalibot ito sa leeg niya. “Much better.”
Napatingin lang siya sa mukha nito. “Umamin ka nga sa’king bata ka. Do you like me?” prangkang tanong niya.
He smiled before he answered her. “Hm, yes. I think I like you. And please don’t call me bata. You’re just three years older than me.” Naku makukutusan niya talaga ‘tong bata na to eh. “So, use me to make that man jealous. I don’t mind.” Natigilan siya sa sinabi nito. Oo nga pala. Nahulaan agad nito kung sino ang pinagseselos niya no’n sa party. Napatingin tuloy siya kay Vince. At sakto namang napatingin din ito sa kanya. Pero bakit parang nakikitaan niya ng galit ang maamong mukha nito? Kasi naman, nasa magkabilang-dulo na nga sila ng mesa, nagkakakitaan pa rin sila.
Is he angry with her? Hindi ba dapat siya pa nga ang galit dito? Napatingin sila sa eskandalosong boses ni Madel, ang secretary ni Ms. Angel. “So, since wala naman tayo sa office, let me ask you two a personal question, curious kasi kaming lahat. Mag-on po ba kayo ni Mr. Tan?” tanong ni Madel kay Angel bago naghiyawan ang mga pang-asar niyang katrabaho sa mesa nila at sa karatig-mesa. Nagtagpo na naman ang mata nila ni Vince at siya ang unang nagbawi ng tingin. Bago pa man makasagot si Angel, napatingin ang lahat kay Mark dahil sa lakas ng sigaw nito.
“Guys! Guess who ang nadiskubre ko na may love bite ngayon sa leeg?” malakas na tanong nito sa lahat. Nanlaki ang mata niya sa sinabi nito. Hinampas niya nang malakas ang braso nito kaya nalaman din ng lahat na siya ang tinutukoy nito. Kaya nag-umpisa na naman ang tawanan. Itong baliw na kaibigan niyang si Jane, sinuri pa talaga ang magkabilang-leeg niya.
“Omo!” ani nitong nasapo pa ang bibig. Binigyan din siya nito nang mahinhing hampas sa braso. Samantalang, nanlilisik ang mata niyang tumingin kay Mark. Gusto na niya sanang basagin ang bote ng beer sa ulo nito eh. Tumayo itong bigla nang hawakan niya nga ang isang bote at mabilis na tumakbo papuntang kabilang dulo ng mesa. Sakto pang lumapit ito kay Vince at bumulong rito. Napakahay*p nitong lalaking ‘to.
Nagulat na lang siya nang tumayo si Vince at umupo si Mark sa pwesto nito. Gano’n na lang yata ‘yong kaba niya nang makitang naglakad papunta sa gawi niya si Vince. Kalma, Ayana. Kalma.
Kaya gano’n na lang din yung asar niya nang lagpasan nito ang pwesto ni Mark at dumiretso lang ito sa CR. Nagawi na naman tuloy ang tingin niya kay Mark na nasa kabilang dulo ng mesa at talagang nginisihan pa siya nito.
Matapos niyang makaubos ng tatlong bote, hinampas niya ang braso ng katabing kaibigan at niyaya na itong umuwi dahil may pasok pa sila bukas.
“Isn’t it rude to leave before the celebrant?” Napatingin siya kay Vince na nasa gilid na niya pala. Si Jane naman ay mabilis na binalik ang atensyon sa babaeng kausap sa katabing silya. Akmang uupo na sana ang binata sa upuan ni Mark kaya naman nilagay niya ang bag niya rito. Nagtaka naman ito sa ginawa niya at umiling lang siya rito. Ayaw niya itong makatabi. Ayaw niyang maeskandalo, baka sabihin pa ng mga katrabaho niya ay sinusulot niya ang lalaki ni Angel.
He grabbed her bag and dropped it on the floor. Napamaang siya sa ginawa nito. She scoffed at him. Pagkaupo nito, hindi niya maiwasang tignan ito nang masama.
“Are you serious?” she glared at him. Kinuha naman nito ang bag niya sa sahig at binigay sa kanya. This time, it was her turn to grab her bag from him. This guy is seriously testing her limits. Never siya nakaramdam nang ganitong pagkaasar kay Juluis.
“What are you doing here? You should head back there, habang hindi pa nila nahahalata,” she warned him.
“Nahahalata na ano?” pilyong tanong nito. She chuckled at his pretense. At the same time, nagkaroon din siya ng chance na titigan ang gwapong mukha nito nang malapitan. Natuon pa ang atensyon niya sa mga labi nito na minsan na siyang siniil namg mararahas na halik. Naramdaman pa niyang bumilis ang tahip ng dibdib niya. There was that magnetic force that kept pulling her toward him. Para siyang nadedemonyo nang mga sandaling ‘yon.

“You. Get. Out. Of. Here,” banta niya rito, bago pa siya muling mademonyo at baka masunggaban na niya ito nang tuluyan. Nawalang bigla ang ngiti nito at parang galit na tumayo.
He was really testing her limit. At muntik na siyang bumigay.

Excerpt from Chapter 20: Impure Rage

I refuse to die…

Ada didn’t know where that voice came from. It wasn’t even clear to her how she managed to breathe normally again, as if the man on the ground whose arms were still directed at her didn’t magically choke her a while ago.

Why did it stop?

She could see the puzzlement in his eyes. She saw him repeatedly motioning his hands at her, presumably materializing his powers again, but nothing is happening.

No… He didn’t stop. He couldn’t control his powers anymore, could he? Why?

It was weird— the sensation. It’s as if something has awakened in her. It was as if she was hit straight by a bolt of lightning, but instead of being fried, she could feel her body fully absorbing its power.

She remained suspended in the air, but she didn’t seem to be frightened of the height anymore. She slowly raised her arms to see what’s happening to her. Then, a wave of cold air swirled gently around her.

Ah! He’s at it again!

However, it felt different.

No. I don't think he's the one doing it. Is it me? Maybe I need to wave my hands, too, like a choral director.

She then motioned her hands forward in his direction, and the instant she raised her hands, he automatically gasped as if she flicked through his lungs.

What happened?

She repeated the gesture, and it happened again.

Sh*t! I'm doing it! I’m choking him!

She chuckled at the sight, as she repeated the gesture consecutively until he collapsed on the ground, catching his breath.

A wave of energy rushed through her veins, and she blasted it toward the man, and she heard him scream in pain after he was sent flying to a nearby tree. That’s when she realized that she wasn’t just suffocating him. She can fully use the wind now at her disposal, and of course, she’ll utilize it to dispose of him.

“Oy, hijo de p*ta! Got a taste of your own medicine, eh?” she screamed at the man who laid still on the ground. “You’re too weak for someone who has got such power,” she tutted. Finally, she can have her revenge. Too bad for this man, she had watched many witches movies and series, so she had several ideas in her mind of how to use her gained power.

She slowly descended to the ground. She didn’t know how; it just kind of happened, as if she’s in complete control of this power now. She waved her hands forward with a push and sent the man flying again to the tree behind him.

And, she wasn’t contented yet, she waved her right-hand side to side that the man was thrown ‘from her left to right. “I don’t understand why you would hurt someone without a proper reason. But, it’s oddly satisfying to hurt someone, the same way they had hurt you.”

She suddenly recalled Ni’mula’s final moments, how she wasn’t able to do anything but watch the murderer bury that knife in her grandma’s body.

With that in mind, she waved her hands at him that he flew horizontally in the air before she brought him in front of her. She waved her right hand in a rotating manner, and he instantly rotated upright. “However, I swear... that I’ll triple the pain you’ve all caused me!”

She aimed her right hand at him before she closed it into a fist that he started to pant vehemently, and after a few seconds soon, he coughed blood and stopped gasping. Then, she waved her right hand down with a slam that his body dropped down with a booming thud as if the hardened earth was crushed from the impact of his fall.

She gazed at her palms as tears began to blur her vision. “Why! Why did you come so late! I already lost everything! I already lost Ni’mula and Laria!” she roared in anger as her eyes beamed with bright blinding light.

The forest started to tremble as a massive amount of wind started to accumulate around her, and it spun rapidly, doubling its surreal amount as its whirling expands through the vastness of the jungle.

Ada couldn’t see anything anymore, for she was now blinded by her rage.
