“Dr. Mudjekeewis D. Santos ‘92, also known as ‘Dr. Pogi,’ is the Philippines's first-ever Career Scientist V under the Scientific Career System which is co-implemented by the Department of Science and Technology and the Civil Service Commission. It is a system of recruitment, career progression, and recognition that awards the scientist rank to qualified research personnel in the government service.

The SCS recognized Santos for his exceptional contributions to fisheries science and governance in the country, highlighted in over 100 scientific publications. His pioneering work includes the application of DNA barcoding protocols for identifying fishery species and their by-products, enabling traceability and labeling.

He currently works at the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute. He completed his master's and doctorate degrees at the Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology.”

Doc Mudjie is the Vice-Chair of the Philippine Aquatic Red List Committee (PARLC) created under FAO 233 series of 2010 pursuant to Republic Act 9147 or the "Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act of 2001.

|| THE Scientific Career System (SCS) conferred to Mudjekeewis Dalisay Santos of the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (NFRDI Philippines) the rank of Career Scientist 5, the first in the Philippines.

According to SCS, Santos, or "Doc Mudjie" as he is fondly called, is a fishery scientist and marine biologist widely recognized for his work on utilizing genetics, resource assessment, and policy studies to support fisheries management and aquaculture for food security, biodiversity conservation and climate change adaptation in the country.
