Habang nagsasagawa ng pampublikong pagdinig ang National Capital Region (NCR) - Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) noong June 20, 2024, at aktibong pinagpapasyahan ng Kongreso ang panukalang pagtaas ng sahod sa pamamagitan ng batas simula pa noong nakaraang taon, gaya ng ₱150 dagdag sa sahod para sa lahat ng manggagawa ng TUCP, nakatuon ang buong bansa sa regional wage board na magbigay ng dagdag na sahod na hindi bababa sa ₱150. Natatakot ang mga employer at ilang opisyal ng gobyerno na ang isang malaking pagtaas ay makakasama sa mga negosyo at magpapataas ng inflation. Ang National Wage Coalition, na pinangungunahan ng BMP, KMU, Nagkaisa!, at TUCP, ay itinuturing na walang basehan ang mga pangambang ito at nangangatuwiran na kailangan ang pagtaas upang mapabuti ang buhay ng mga manggagawa at ang pag-unlad ng ekonomiya. 13 December 2023 PRESS STATEMENT TUCP LAUDS PASSAGE OF THE MAGNA CARTA OF FILIPINO SEAFARERS The Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) lauds the passage of the Magna Carta of Filipino Seafarers, which the House of Representatives first passed in February 2023 through House Bill No. 7325 principally sponsored by TUCP President and House Deputy Speaker Raymond Democrito Mendoza. “With its passage, Congress expressed its firm commitment to ensure the adequate protection of 700 hundred thousand Filipino seafarers, here and abroad, as they leave their families and brave dangerous waters. Those onboard foreign cargo maritime vessels and cruise ships are wealth creators building a new middle class working at great risk to themselves. Those who fish and work principally on boats and ferries operating primarily within our sovereign waters, and local domestic shipping and passenger lines, need to have their rights fully protected and realized through compliance with our Philippine Labor Code and the Occupational Safety and Health law. In both cases we must address vulnerabilities which may subject them to exploitation and unfair treatment,” underscored Deputy Speaker Mendoza.
