EARIST, the Eulogio ''Amang'' Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology, conducted its first face-to-face National Service Training Program (NSTP) classes since the pandemic lockdown started. The students, who have been used to online classes for almost three years, were thrilled to be back on campus and participate in their NSTP classes.
The classes were held at the Engineering Building and Main quadrangle of EARIST, and students from various courses participated in the program including the ROTC. The NSTP program is a government-mandated program for tertiary level students in the Philippines, which aims to promote civic consciousness, patriotism, and nationalism among the youth.
The students were excited to be back on campus and interact with their classmates and instructors in person. The classes were conducted with strict adherence to health protocols, such as wearing of face masks during their time in school.
During the classes, the students were able to participate in various activities such as bandaging and the types of bandaging technique at different scenarios. The students were enthusiastic and engaged in the activities, and they expressed their excitement to be back on campus and participate in the program.
One of the students, John, enrolled in CWTS, shared his excitement about being back on campus. "I missed the feeling of being in a school and learning with my classmates. It's different when you're face-to-face, and you can ask questions and interact with your instructors and classmates," he said.
During the event, the NSTP Volunteers and EARIST DRRMO were also present to assist the students and instructors in ensuring that the health protocols were observed and in maintaining the order of classes in each batch.
Overall, the first face-to-face classes of the NSTP at EARIST were a success. The students were happy to be back on campus, and they enjoyed the activities and learning experiences provided by the programs. The success of this event was made possible through the collaboration of the students, instructors, EARIST DRRMO and the NSTP Volunteers. Their efforts and dedication in ensuring that the health protocols were observed made the event a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

World Press Freedom Day: A Reminder of Free and Independent Journalism's Importance
We commemorate World Press Freedom Day on May 3rd each year to spread awareness of the value of press freedom and the contribution independent media makes to advancing democracy and human rights. This day also serves to act as a reminder of the difficulties that journalists must overcome in order to do their jobs.
Attacks on journalists have risen in recent years, and many now face harassment, jail, and even death for performing their duties. This emphasizes how crucial it is for governments to guarantee journalists' safety and their freedom to report the truth without fear of punishment.
In order to promote transparency in governance and hold those in authority responsible, press freedom is also crucial. Because of this, it is essential that the public has access to a variety of news sources and that reporters are free to report without restraint or intervention.
Let's keep in mind the significance of independent, free media in our society on this World Press Freedom Day and the necessity of protecting this essential freedom.
