To continue our current efforts in helping the Dumagat-Remontado Tribe, we are still open for anyone who is willing to extend a helping hand by availing our Bayanihan Packs.
Our Bayanihan Pack is a ₱300 worth of groceries. We will be distributing these food packages once again to the Dumagat-Remontado tribe, that is, apparently, one of the most vulnerable to hunger amidst this pandemic.
As of this writing, we have already collected 67 Bayanihan Packs from our last visit along Marilaque Highway, and Sitio Pagsiko.
To see more Happy Faces of the Bayanihan Pack Movement, you can join this movement by availing the said package or by simply sharing this post—that way we can reach more and more people who will support our cause.
*We do accept any amount or in kind donations.
We heard you, and now they are here! Due to popular demand, Aklan Oysters are now available in our website!

El Mercado Local is a proud partner of Tuwas Yakan! We want to highlight not only these beautifully hand-woven face masks, but also the skills and talents of our sisters in Basilan and Zamboanga who have been affected because of the recent chaos in Mindanao, up until now.
This pandemic has forced business owners to venture into digital, unfortunately, not everyone has the means to do so. Let us not forget to help those who have represented us in beauty, talent and creativity.
A simple purchase of their facemasks would be enough to help them battle this pandemic.

BAYANIHAN PACK MOVEMENT
El Mercado Local recently launched the “Bayanihan Pack Movement” for those who are gravely affected by this pandemic, and lost their livelihood in the process.
We featured the Dumagat-Remontado Tribe from Sitio Tablon in Tanay, Rizal as our beneficiaries for the first batch. But due to unforeseen circumstances, we were not able to enter the said area because of the strict community quarantine protocols.
However, we were still able to distribute it to the families along the Marilaque highway, and “Pagsiko” as they call it.
As a result of your generosity, we were able to give a total of 46 Bayanihan Packs to locals and tribe members.
We would like to thank you for being part of this movement. We hope that you will continue to join us and support our cause.
Sitio Tablon, we will be back!

Meet the Dumagat-Remontado Tribe of Sitio Tablon, Tanay, Rizal. Our first batch of beneficiaries for the Bayanihan Pack Movement.
For the longest time, these people have been fighting against commercialization and big conglomerates to preserve their land, culture and tradition that they yearn to pass down to their children and future generations.
From then until now, their craftsmanship is their only source of livelihood. They create sawalis and barbecue skewers out of bamboos and try to bring their products to Metro Manila, but due to middlemen overpricing everything, it is indeed a challenge for them to make the most out of their hardwork. To sustain their daily needs, however, they have small portions of land wherein they farm root crops such as mais, talbos, kamoteng-kahoy, and the like.
Now, it is our goal not only to help these farmers, and craftsmen sell their locally-made products, but also to introduce and help them pivot their skills into making innovative handicrafts out of bamboos—showing our nation the true skill set of the Dumagat-Remontado Tribe.
We believe that through this Bayanihan Pack Movement, and our advocacy of , we can help these people to have a sustainable livelihood.

We are very delighted to announce that we have officially partnered with Tuwas Yakan!
The Yakan tribe, originally from Basilan, Philippines, had to migrate to Zamboanga due to all the chaos and war brought upon their land. It is our duty to educate today's generation about all the great talents and products of the Yakan tribe, their tradition of weaving, and bring about their colorful patterns into the spotlight.
Evelynda Otong, founder of Tuwas Yakan, is a fourth generation weaver who has honored Yakan's pride by becoming the first ever Yakan weaver that was sent to London to showcase her brand and skills, and featured in PAL inflight magazine.
Today, as we keep up with the New Normal, we have extended our helping hand to our dearest Yakan weavers by providing them the opportunity to boost brand awareness even more here in Metro Manila, and eventually to other places.
To check some distinct Yakan finishes, visit our website at mercadolocalph.com

Burias Dried Seafoods is a small business run by a group of fishermen from Burias Islands in Masbate. Everyday Fresh Seafoods, on the other hand, is a company that aims to aid groups of fishermen from different places such as Palawan, Bataan, and Bulacan.
As both businesses, and all fishermen are directly affected by this pandemic, it is our advocacy, , to support domestic fisheries and boost the livelihood of our local fishermen.
