But I don’t want this post to be a long story that’s all about me, instead, I want this to be about YOU!

In fact, I want to share my top 10 lessons I learned in the past 10 years with just a 10-minute read.

I will literally pull back my curtain and share with you the failures & mistakes I learned after selling over half a billion in sales online.

This can literally be a $997 online course. But I’ve decided to give it all away for FREE!

This is my way of giving back.

Note: There might be marketing terms that might not easily be understood by newbies. Just feel free to save this post & go back to it in the future.

LESSON #1: You Only Need 1 Product, 1 Sales Process, and 1 Traffic Source

This is how I got my 2 Comma Club award twice!

For my first 2CC award, it was just one membership site product, a webinar funnel with 3 pages, and FB ads.

For my second 2CC award, it was just one supplement product, a sales video with 2 pages, and FB ads.

Yes, simple scales, fancy fails!

It might be a different story when scaling to 9 figures and beyond. But to get to 8 figures, it’s just that.

The boring stuff always wins.

LESSON #2: Advertising Is NEVER an Expense

Well, this is only applicable when you understand direct response advertising and when you understand your numbers.

But my rule for my team is… We keep scaling and adding more budget so long as we’re profitable.

We’ve spent 6 figures a day in ads just to sell 1 product alone.

It’s not because I’m rich and I can burn money. But because I know my numbers.

And my team reports to me those numbers every single day.

LESSON #3: ROAS (Return On Adspent) Is Just Hype

What’s better?

Option A: 10x ROAS w/ P10k adpsent or

Option B: 5x ROAS w/ P1M adspent

In Option A, you made P90,000 in net sales, but in Option B, you made P4M in net sales.

At the end of the day, it’s not about the ROAS. It’s about volume.

It’s like saying you made 1000% ROI in your stock investment but you only invested P1k.

Yes, you technically made a high return, but it’s still not a life changing amount.

LESSON #4: I Don’t Compute Profit. I Compute ROI (Return On Investment)

What’s better?

Option A: P1M profit w/ a revolving fund of P10M or

Options B: P500k profit w/ a revolving fund of P1M

In option A, my profit was higher compared to the second option but I only made a 10% ROI… But in option B, I made a crazy 50% ROI in just 1 month.

Most people just look at how much profit they made but disregard how much capital they have to put in to generate that amount.

Why is this important? Because the lower your ROI, the higher your risk is.

That’s why people who made a profit in the past years, can easily get wiped out with just a few months of losses.

LESSON #5: Profit Does Not Always Equal to Cash

I almost lost my business in 2019. Because I made millions in profit. But when I checked my bank account, I only had a few thousands left.

In fact, I only have 2 months of operating expenses left.

I was considering to take a job just to pay my team (yes, this has been a secret til now hehe)

But this was a lesson that I learned…

The most important number in business… Is NOT revenue, NOT assets, NOT expenses… It’s CASH!

This became my action-plan moving forward, speeding up all the cash inflow… Slowing down all the cash outflow.

It didn’t matter if I gave up a little bit of profits to speed up the collection or I’d spend a little bit more on interest to slow down the payables.

Because since then, what mattered most was CASH in the bank!

LESSON #6: Education First, Assets Second, Liabilities Third.

If you’re earning less than P100k per month right now. Here’s my advice… Do NOT buy assets!

In 2018, I had millions in the bank… Instead of buying an asset, I invested it in a mastermind.

Back then it was $30,000 or around P1.6M in Philippine currency to join the mastermind.

My friends and family thought I was CRAZY.

But guess what, if I had bought an asset, that would have gotten a 100% ROI by now.

But since I invested in education, it’s now a 1,000,000% ROI.

LESSON #7: Our Businesses Are Making a Lot of Money But I’m Broke.

When the business is making P1M per month, we now think we’re making P1M per month… NO!

You’re just an employee of the business, and at the same time a shareholder.

Meaning… There are only 2 ways for you to make money….

1) Salary
2) Dividends

As CEO, the business pays me a salary. This is what we use for our daily expenses.

On top of that, every quarter, the business pays me dividends. This is to incentivize the risk I’m taking. This is what I use to fund the next business venture.

So make sure you have separate accounts for each. Never merge them.

(Well, I did merge them when I was getting started because my salary back then was P10k, but the business was earning only P5k. So there’s no point separating them that time haha)

LESSON #8: Market First, Offer Second, Messaging Third

There are a lot of skills that's needed to be learned… Selling, doing FB ads, creating funnels, finding winning products, writing sales copy, and many more.

Over time I mastered every single skill… But I noticed, there are a few tweaks I made that made all the difference. It’s this…

Step #1: Targeting a thirsty market
Step #2: Selling them water they can’t find anywhere else
Step #3: Communicating how your product helps them move away from pain or move towards pleasure

You may be very good at everything. But if you miss this, you will continue to struggle forever.

LESSON #9: Problems In Business Will NEVER Go Away

A business will either go up or go down, either way a problem exists.

People problem, customer problem, advertising problem, and many more…

Instead of creating a fake dream of hoping all the problems will be solved… I create a new story in my mind that God appointed me to be a problem solver and that’s my calling.

So I accepted it. And just made it part of my everyday life.

LESSON #10: I’m Just Like You

I may have sold half a billion in sales online…

I may have accumulated a total of 1M followers across all platforms…

But… I never thought about it (except when writing this hehe)

I mean like, I’m just a normal kid. I'm just like you.

That’s why you see me attend seminars and enroll in courses…

I keep asking and I keep learning…

I’m just a sponge every time absorbing new things from different people.

I mean, I never considered myself as “successful” yet.

In my mind, I just have to accomplish the next level or next rank, so I can continue learning from people who are above me. That’s it. That's my motivation.

Up until now, I feel like I don’t know everything yet and I will continue to keep learning.
