Today, we are celebrating the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. Everytime we see a cross, we are always reminded not only of the victory of Jesus over sin, but also of the love of Christ for us. That's why we are being encouraged by our fellow Catholics to always bring with us our rosaries, mission crosses, and any other types of sacramentals that would remind us of Jesus' ultimate sacrifice.

On the other hand, there's this beautiful gesture instuted by the Church for us to prepare ourselves to receive grace and which sanctifies a moment or circumstances. And it is the the sign of the cross.

The sign of the cross is a beautiful gesture which reminds the faithful of both the cross of salvation while invoking the Holy Trinity. There are several times when we can make the sign of the cross, and here are some of the following:

1. DURING PERSONAL PRAYER
—An invocation to the Blessed Trinity before beginning something.

2. WHEN PASSING A CHURCH
—To honor the Blessed Sacrament present inside.

3. WHEN YOU HEAR A SIREN
—To heal those who are in danger of dying

4. WHEN PASSING A CEMETERY
—As a prayer for the Holy Souls.

5. WHEN YOU SEE AN ACCIDENT
—As a protection for those who are in peril.

Some people are interchanging the usage of 'chalice' and 'ciborium' to each other. And they are altar vessels that are used in the Holy Mass. But what is the difference between them? The chalice is a cup-shaped vessel or goblet used at Mass to contain the Precious Blood of Christ. On the other hand, ciborium is a covered container used to hold the consecrated Hosts. It is similar to a chalice but covered, used for small Communion hosts of the faithful.
