Dr. Fe del Mundo, born in Manila on November 27, 1911, was a groundbreaking figure in medicine and a symbol of female empowerment. Graduating at the top of her class in 1933, she specialized in pediatrics and earned the nickname “Angel of Santo Tomas” for her wartime medical care.

In 1957, she founded the Philippines' first pediatric hospital and innovated a bamboo incubator to aid rural communities. Recognized as the first female National Scientist in 1980, her pioneering work, including the BRAT diet for diarrhea, has left an enduring legacy.

The 𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 (𝗡𝗣𝗦𝗖) 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰, held from 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟯-𝟲 at 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗛𝗮𝘆, 𝗕𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗼 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆, was a landmark event that united over 𝟱𝟬𝟬 𝗶𝘀𝗸𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀 from across the Philippines, including our six delegates from the Technological University of the Philippines - Taguig. This year's theme, "𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗪𝗘 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱," set the stage for a transformative experience aimed at empowering iskolars to drive sustainable and inclusive development.

The congress kicked off with an engaging orientation and welcoming dinner on Day 0, where iskolars connected with each other and familiarized themselves with the event. The excitement continued into Day 1 with a series of inspiring opening remarks and a keynote address on empowerment by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗝𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗦. 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗼. His talk ignited a renewed sense of purpose among the iskolars. The day also saw the opening of the World Café, where iskolars from all 17 regions showcased their initiatives and volunteer opportunities, fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas. The Cultural Night in the evening was a highlight, featuring performances from all regions of the Philippines, showcasing their unique cultural heritage.

On the second day, discussions centered around leadership and empowerment, featuring talks from 𝗗𝗿. 𝗦𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗼 𝗝𝗼𝗮𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗻 𝗘. 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗝𝗿. and 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗲𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻 “𝗫𝗶𝗮𝗼” 𝗕. 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗮. The Networking for Empowerment workshop led by 𝗠𝘀. 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗷𝗲𝗹𝘆𝗻𝗻 𝗖. 𝗕𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲 encouraged iskolars to pitch impactful projects aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The day ended with a memorable opera performance and a Q&A session with prominent DOST-SEI personalities, hosted by 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗕𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗲 𝗖. 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗷𝗼. The congress concluded with a celebration featuring The Ridleys band, where iskolars connected and enjoyed an evening of music and camaraderie.

NPSC 2024 not only fostered collaboration among iskolars but also reinforced their commitment to leading positive change for the nation. Through shared experiences and insightful discussions, iskolars left inspired and equipped with the tools to drive sustainable development and empower their communities. The congress ignited a collective vision for a brighter future, underscoring the power of unity and leadership in shaping a better tomorrow.

Six scholar-delegates are embarking on an exciting journey for the 𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘁 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 at The Manor, Camp John Hay. From 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟯-𝟲, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰, they’ll engage with fellow iskolars across the country, share insights, and immerse themselves in a unique learning experience.

This congress is a stepping stone for them to gain fresh perspectives and bring back new ideas to inspire others. Wishing our scholars a fruitful trip and an enriching experience ahead!

𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓’𝐒 𝐀 𝐖𝐑𝐀𝐏!

The much-anticipated 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 took place on 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰, at multiple locations across the country, including the 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 - 𝗧𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗴. With around 168 participants in both morning and afternoon sessions, the day was filled with the promise and potential of future scholars.

After the exam, ✨scholar-volunteers✨, in collaboration with N**S, handed out free stickers and organized entertaining games like “Matchy Matchy.” The booth also featured a “Lapis for a Cause” dropbox, encouraging students to donate their used pencils to support community initiatives. A photo backdrop was set up as well, giving examinees a chance to take pictures and manifest their success.

The event ran smoothly thanks to the dedicated faculty and staff from TUP-Taguig, along with chief examiners from DOST-SEI, ensuring a fair and efficient examination process.

Hats off to all examinees for their resilience and dedication. Your hard work brings you closer to achieving your dreams. Here’s to a bright and promising future!

𝐌𝐫. 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐨 𝐑𝐨𝐪𝐮𝐞 and 𝐌𝐫. 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐠 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐚, DOST-SEI Scholars from Mapúa University and University of the Philippines - Diliman, respectively, led 𝐃𝐚𝐲-𝟏 of the event as tutors for Physics and Chemistry.

Likewise, 𝐌𝐫. 𝗝𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗹 and 𝗠𝘀. 𝗚𝗲𝗺 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗰𝗮𝘆𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻, DOST-SEI Scholars from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines - Manila and National University - Manila, respectively, tutored Biology, Sampling Techniques, Taxonomy, Etymology, and Ground Breaking Discoveries.

With half of the project completed, the sessions will resume next weekend, June 29-30, 2024, with a new subject area, English.

𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟏 of 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐒: 𝐉𝐋𝐒𝐒 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 completed with success of 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲-𝟐 held today, June 16, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM through Zoom Meeting.

𝐌𝐬. 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞 𝐉𝐡𝐨𝐲 𝐀𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨 and 𝐌𝐫. 𝐑𝐚𝐲𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐫𝐰𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐮𝐚𝐧, DOST-SEI Scholars from Mapúa University, piloted the event as Mathematics Tutors.

The sessions will resume next weekend, June 22-23, 2024, with a new subject area, Science.
