Just when we thought the spooky season was over, a new horror awaits. The peaceful All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day weekend has come to an end, and now, the real nightmare begins.
Despite the disappointments we faced the past terms, lets turn those as motivation to bounce back and once again be on track.

Wednesday, October 16, 2024, through the initiative of Tagum Doctors College Incorporated โ Guidance Testing and Service Center together with TDCI Psychology Department and City Youth Development Office of Tagum City, Tagum SK Federation and ATIMAN Center, conducted the first local mental health summit at Herminigildo Baloyo Hall, Tagum City Cultural and Historical Center. It was a fruitful event, wherein young students are enriched with the importance and relevance of mental health and how to cope with it.
Stories are shared from people with traumatic experiences which greatly affected their mental status but were able to get through it and emerge victorious. Various schools within the city as well as outside were invited to join and be part of the program to break the stigma.
Speakers that are also experts in mental health talks were invited and gave various advice and answers during the plenary talks. The speakers also prepared activities that made the audience even more participative and more engaged with the talk of caring for their mental health.
All throughout the summit, it was emphasized that mental health is as important as your physical health. Care for it as you care for yourself. And always remember, seeking help is another form of courage because you matter.

We are aspiring medical allied professionals, striving to save lives. However, we must also take care of our health, especially our mental health. In line with this yearโs Mental Health Day celebration, themed "Itโs Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace," let us also prioritize our own mental well-being. Start with yourself.
Below is a not-so-secret recipe to have a well-cooked good mental health.

Restful sleep โ 5-8 cups
Daily exercise (akyat-baba in stairs, walk, yoga, or workout) โ 30 cups
Meals โ 50 tablespoon
Social interaction/ cheesemes with friends and family โ sprinkled like magic sarap
Water - 8 glasses
Prayers - as needed; everyday

We are already halfway through the midterms examination week, yet our energy levels are almost at their empty point. Indeed, this week has so far been a whirlwind of late-night study sessions, answering practice questions, and moments of self-doubt. Yet, amidst the stress, anxiety, and feelings of uncertainty, may we be reminded of the very reason why we started taking this degree. Perhaps it's a passion, a career goal, or a desire for personal growth. Whatever the reason, let's hold onto that motivation.
