Rising Stars: La Filipina's First-Time STEMazing Winners Shine Bright!

Last Friday, April 26, 2024, La Filipina National High School buzzed with excitement as students from different schools meet for the Division Festival of Talents. One of the highlights was the STEMazing event, where talented young minds showcased their skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics by crafting innovative research proposals discussing global issues.

The day kicked off with a flurry of activity as participants dove into the morning crafting their research proposals. Imaginations soared as students gathered and conceptualized solutions to current global challenges, from climate change to sustainable technologies.

Continuing in the afternoon, it was time for the much awaited heart trembling main event: the presentation of research proposals. Each team took to the stage, armed with passion and knowledge, and imaginations turned into solutions, to pitch their ideas to a panel of esteemed judges. Doing it like a pro.

Leading this intellectual celebration was none other than Dr. Honey Lynne Boyles, the Education Program Supervisor in Science, whose dedication to honing young scientific minds was visible throughout the event. Assisting her were the discerning judges: Dr. Charlyn Emata, Dr. Mervin Salmon, and Dr. Honey Lynne Boyles herself, ensuring fair evaluation of each proposal.

Behind the scenes, the STEMazing team, led by the energetic Sir Henry Haranay, worked tirelessly to coordinate and support the event, ensuring a smooth and inspiring experience for all involved.

Participation was robust, with eager teams from both Junior High School and Senior High School levels presenting their best ideas. The atmosphere was one of camaraderie and healthy competition, showcasing the talent and ingenuity of young Filipino students.

Finally, the winners were announced amid cheers and applause. Sweeping the top spots was Tagum City National High School Senior High and Junior High Department, showcasing their exceptional prowess in research and innovation. The first timers REYMARR REYES from SPJ, MATT ALEXANDER Aร‘O AND ROVER LIAM GRAMPON both coming from the first batch of the STE program of our beloved La Filipina National High School, which showed ultimate prowess during the whole duration of the event, proudly secured the fifth spot, a testament to their commitment and dedication with the assistance of their coach Maโ€™am JANICA C. BASTASA Grade 8 STE adviser and research teacher, and the support from the Master Teachers of Science Department and STE coordinator Maโ€™am Gisselle G Wong.

The Division Festival of Talents, especially the STEMazing showcase, not only celebrated academic excellence but also ignited a passion for critical thinking and problem-solving. It was a day where young minds came together to envision a brighter, more sustainable futureโ€”a future shaped by their creativity and determination.

As the event concluded, students left inspired, carrying with them new ideas and a renewed enthusiasm for the endless possibilities of science and technology. Until next year's festival, the spirit of STEMazing will continue to thrive, empowering young talents to change the world, one innovative idea at a time.

To our young scientists, Salutรฉ!
